i do want to see this. and its a castrated boy in let the right one in, but i believe it's a female in let me in
Alright, I just got back from seeing the film and I'll say with out spoilers that this came very close to the greatness of the Swedish version. Very close. The changes they made with certain story aspects I don't mind at all, they where mostly minor and they work. Both leads did really good as it. Comparing to the 2 female leads, I say is like Apples to Oranges. They both made there character unique with there performance. The 1 aspect that I have a big problem with is the use of CGI in certain scenes. The swedish film did the same scenes just fine with out the need for over the top special effects, and I might of said this film reached the level of the orriginal if not for that. However, that's only 1 major complaint, everything else that I would say I have a problem with is very minor and didn't affect the movie to me at all. Put it simply, this film came very close, and even though it didn't, it's still a damn good movie none the less.
From the trailers it looked like a majority of the film is just a rehash of the original, is that still the case or are there a lot of new scenes that just weren't shown in the trailers?
A lot of it fallows the orriginal film pretty close. The changes though adds a level of freshness that it needs to make it unique from the Swedish version, and it works.
It's not playing anywhere near me , I was looking forward to it too
Poor castrated little vampire boy... :(
There's a complaint I heard about this that I feel like adressing.
Spoiler...In the American film, they changed it to where when Abbie fed, she did a slight transformation where her eyes demon like and her teeth where more sharper I think. This is an obvious change and some havn't liked it compared to Eli who even while she feeds remains calm and dosn't transform in anyway. I can see why they complain cause that did help keep her child innocence present. Also, Abbie can roar and has a more adult and evil soundind voice when she's angry/hungry, something Eli never had. However, I think Abbie and her more feirce form works in this version. The reason why is that most of the movie she only makes this version come forth when she's in desperate need of blood, pretty much not feeding brings out the demon, hence why she sends the old man out to kill and collect blood. To be honst, it makes sense. Also, it's not like Eli wasn't any less of a monster, she still sent someone out to kill for her and she did it herself when she had to, she just didn't look nearly as evil when she did it.
I'll be seeing it tonight. Making my daughter take me as she works there and gets family in free! (finally, 17 years of wiping tears and band-aiding boo boos pays off!)
It actually was pretty good a little bit better than i expected it to be pretty sweet part towards the end i enjoyed.
I enjoyed it quite a bit. The acting was very good and story well told. I own the original, but haven't got around to watching it so it was all new to me. (I buy a lot of movies at a local used DVD store for cheep!)
I just typed up a review and it'll be up on BthroughZ in a few weeks.
Looks different... I'll check it out
From what I have heard so far it is a goer.
Having to live for all eternity with the fact that you got your tool chopped off and sodomised(?) as a child, damn.
