The only film by him I like is transformers, and even that has it's ridiculously stupid moments. He got a few extra points for making fun of himself and his style in that commercial a few years back.

I love thinkers as well. His explosions are the only reason I like his films. I just hate him because he thinks he can do a masterpiece...he's one of the reasons the Moviepocaylpse is arriving...
I don't like a majority of his movies nevertheless I do believe he excels as an action director but in other areas he feels the need to be the complacent, conventional hollywood type that's easily identifiable.
I think Transformers was a fun, popcorn movie as well. It does have it's ridiculous dialogue but I think for once the action and constant good pacing made up for whatever misgivings the dialogue might have had.
At this point, I don't think he cares nor has the chance to repair his reputation amongst the many who don't like him but I do give him credit for taking shots at himself.
i think he can definitely make a good script into a badass movie, but a bad script into a terrible movie
To my knowledge, he hasen't wrote ANYTHING in his filmming career. If he can't write something for a film himself, it's one of the reasons he should be removed from filmmaking. Because I should know for a fact that every Hollywood director I know has atleast wrote one script into making it a movie, and that's just showing more dedication into your work.
Everytime Michael Bay is only a producer and not a director for a movie, he puts a flaregun in the directors' mouths and says "Your characters and storyline are BULLSHIT to me...I want big explosions...I want this pieceofshit killer to be smart....now you go tell the writers to toss their scripts to the shredders and let's make the movie already!"...
Either Michael writes something, so that I may actually find him somewhat descent, of he can go jump off a cliff to his climactic death into a pit of amazing fireworks and bombs to cause a big explosion that'll leave him shot down into a blaze of glory...
Actually Michael Bay wrote most of Transformers 2 during the writers strike and just had a few script doctors work it more.
Also I worked with people that work for Michael Bay on a regular basis and apparently he is as big an asshole as everyone thinks.
I'll take an honest Michael Bay action-fest over any disingenuous "thinker" any day.
Frank Zappa could provoke all kinds of thought without being a depressing, whining, self-destructive child about it. To that end, most thinking movies tend to want to draw out the lower end of the emotional spectrum. There's enough of that kind of "thought" in high school to provide any truly intelligent person a lifetime worth of contemplation. As an adult, it's time to move past that.
At least Michael Bay's protagonists take action. Even if it does involve young female leads in slow-motion jiggle shots.
That's all WGA regulation. A script could pass through a hundred hands before it gets to credited screenwriters.Quote:

Not really a fan. The man sure likes explosions which for me is redundant as hell and pretty much made me not like him. I did enjoy The Rock though.
Can't say I enjoy much outside of the Transformers stuff which I think is right up the alley of a guy like him.
explosions huh??
BOOM!!!
I like some of his movies, however I'm not a big fan of Michael Bay.
Love the Rock, Armageddon and Transformers. He's sure knows how to light cool cars, hot babes and blow the $hit out of stuff.
