Sounds interesting enough. never saw the original though. Still think The Stranger will be better though...
If you plan on seeing this film at all then just check the original, because this is just a lame shot-for-shot remake
If it's a shot-for-shot remake, it'll likely be the same. Also, since the release date is going against saw 4, it'll probably actually only be a limited release, especially considering the dark tone of this film. It doesn't seem something that would appeal to a large audience, but you never know.
I'd def. rather see this than Saw 4...
That's what I mean, I think this movie will be adjusted to cater to the general US audience, even though its a shot-for-shot remake and its being done by the same director.
I can't imagen they are going to show certain death scenes and I think it will loose the bits with the Paul character interacting with the camera/audience and just turn this into a straight up torture flick. Mostly because the US audience (since they aren't the brightest crayons in the box) will not understand why he is doing it and the point of the movie.
Just my 2 cents...
Guess we'll have to see. :eyes:
You mean, you'll see...I'll wait for the review. :D
Probably be a while since I don't plan on seeing it at the theaters :ahheh:
Good cast, but it sounds pretty pointless. I've seen the original and it's pretty crazy, nothing spectacular but definitely something different. I'm sure I'll check out the remake once it hits dvd.
I've never heard of this movie before. What the fuck? I'll have to rent it.
I forgot how I even heard of the original, but I saw it years ago with a friend. Dark, but good film.
The original sounds cool. I will have to give this a watch.
So, I just saw the original last night. I thought it was really good. The hardcore music got on my nerves though and while I liked the whole "breaking of the 4th wall" deal, I hated the rewinding part.
Other than that and a few small plot holes, it was really suspenseful and I enjoyed it. I'll still probably see the remake in theaters though.
looks kinda boring
I don't know, I think this could be very good. Haneke's a well-respected filmmaker, so I trust he has a good reason for remaking this shot-by-shot. Remaking this particular film may not be a bad idea- how many people in the US had heard of Funny Games before the remake was announced, I mean? Other than die hard foreign horror fans or cinema buffs, not very many. Plus the cast for the remake is somewhat outstanding (that's the main reason I'm looking forward to this). I adore Naomi Watts, and was practically giddy when I found out Corbet and Pitt would be playing the killers. They're both very talented young actors and, honestly, I can see them playing the parts very well.
