Horrible Bosses
Deadpool 2 - 7.5/10. Right on par with the first.
Interstellar :coolblank:
Deadpool
Meh. I dunno if I'll see the sequel.
Revenge (2017) -
Not without some noticable flaws, and about 20 min. longer than it needed to be, but still a pretty raw, cringing, effects driven survival revenge flick. Watch worthy.
47 Meters Down
Deadpool 9/10
Lies We Tell
Big Daddy - 9/10
Tokyo Ghoul
Ruckus (1980). About a 'Nam vet (Dirk Benedict) who wanders into a small town and quickly finds himself in trouble with the local law. While the Stallone flick First Blood, which came out two years later, bears more than a passing resemblance to this flick, it's interesting to note that the script for First Blood had been floating around Hollywood close to ten years before Ruckus was made, and had passed through many hands. It wouldn't surprise me if some of those hands belonged to the makers of this flick.
But while the story similarities are undeniable, the execution couldn't be more different. First Blood is a big budget action-fest with tons of stunts and pyrotechnics, whereas Ruckus feels more like a made-for-TV movie. The budget is more modest, the action less spectacular, and the cast consists exclusively of C-listers (Linda Blair, Benedict) and some veteran character actors who were at the time entering the twilight of their careers (Richard Farnsworth, the great Ben Johnson). Still, while this flick is by far the more lackluster of the two, it's not without interest. Benedict may not seem the type to play a psycho Vietnam vet (most folks know him as either Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica or The Face from The A-Team) but he gets the job done. 5/10
Prodigy
Independence Day
Tuff Turf (1985), about a rebel high schooler (a 25-year-old James Spader) who falls for the local gang leader's girlfriend (Kim Richards). Co-starring Robert Downey Jr in one of the many "kooky best friend" roles he spent most of his early career playing, and featuring an appearance by the venerable Jack Mack & the Heart Attack as a teen-club house band. Not a great movie by any stretch, but I have fond memories of watching it opening weekend with my big sis and her boyfriend when I was 13. Coincidentally, it happens to co-star character actor Matt Clark, who was also in the previous non-horror movie I watched, Ruckus (see above). I hadn't seen this flick in so long, I'd forgotten he was in it.
American Pie - 10/10
Fargo
Black Panther - I can't think of a single film that's been released to video past or oresent that can still be found playing in theaters (besides this one)
Breaking Benjamin - The Dark of You.
Creed. 8/10
