It's now filming and some set pics have surfaced. I posted a couple below, but you can find more here: http://www.upcominghorrormovies.com/...s/ghostbusters

And this is the rumored plot:
Quote:
Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.
I will give this a chance. All depends on how the cast works, mainly.
McCarthy is genuinely funny. She rocked it in Spy. But with that being said I think her brand of comedy is tailored for the "R" rated content. This will be a family flick and I'm not sure how she will be. Everyone seems to be putting if this movie is a success or not directly on her back. That's not entirely fair but since that is the case this movie may certainly disappoint.
With that being said though Feig directed her in Spy so I'm sure he will get the most out of her. I do have hopes for this, much of which came after I saw Spy.
I really, really, REALLY despise this new trend of "Ha! Ha! Shes fat! That's fucking hilarious!" comedies hollywood has been sporting with Mellisa Mcartny and that Aussie chick.
I'm gonna have to take your word for it, because the trailer showed me nothing worth watching.
I went only because my wife likes her. I went in with a very negative attitude towards it and ended up being more than pleasantly surprised by it.
Yeah, Mcarthy brings nothing new to the table. I'd see it if she stayed away. Not getting my 10 bucks for an hour and a half of fat jokes

Director Paul Feig just revealed the costumes for his Ghostbusters film, starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. They’re definitely similar to the ones from the 1984 original film, but have a more realistic, fire fighter vibe to them. But that’s not the only Ghostbusters news today.

I'm going to try to remain positive on this despite not liking McCarthy because I know my GF is going to force me to watch it since she's a huge McCarthy fan and I force her to watch enough terrible horror movies that I can take one for the team.
it is easy to play to being fat when your a comedian....and fat....I think your average viewers enjoy that which is why she gets casted so often in such roles... Me personally I do not like the funny because I am fat either. For some reason I do not think that is what SHE is trying to portray. But I do not know a damn thing so I could be wrong. All I am saying is if she dropped 200lbs I think she would still be funny regardless. Yes Mike & Molly is ALL based around funny because I am fat...they met at a Eaters Anonymous meeting
this is still a big ol pass for me.
:spit:
I think the one lady in the back new to SNL is horrible. She fucks up almost every skit on SNL. :negative:
Yeah, about this. Saw Spy a week a and I feel like we saw a 2 different movies. McCarthy is bearable at best in it and altough the movie did get a few laughs out of me it wasn't anything near good. It was just as I expected it to be. Also...I saw a stand up on yt of the black chick...wow. She gives "unfunny" a good name. On the other hand...Kate McKinnon, the blonde chick, is funny as phuuck. Didn't even realize it till I saw the clip from Ellen.
