Well I don't expect you to understand 80's slashers very well, and apparently you don't.
My Bloody Valentine 3D was a throwback 80's style slasher, whereas Hatchet was a modern low budget...
Remove the forced humor that isn't funny, and play it straight.
Well then he failed as it was nothing like a decent 80's slasher, you can tell it was modern. It didn't even feel like a throw back, very poorly scripted throughout.
The first was a low end comedy/slasher and wasn't better than MBV3D or any other recent "good slashers".
