I hated the remake.
And it's not just A Nightmare on Elm Street. Why do all remakes suck? Don't the studios realise that the better the film the more money they make in the long run? I suppose...
True words.
Yeah. That is an adjustment.
Still, over in Hollywood we have A NoES.
Think Aliens to Alien. Now think Rec 2 to Rec. That should stop the itch in your head.
The conudrum of a good sequel is how do you scare the audience if they already know who the ghost is?
Rec...
Cursed.
I saw it for the first time last night. Can you beleive it? I'm not a fan of the Kevin Williamson 'wink wink' style - that was a one movie gimmick for me. That said I enjoyed this flick....
Yeah. I hated Quarantine. Catch Rec 2 on DVD soon. Like the original Halloween 2 the night didn't end with the first movie.
I watched the 2 most recent Ju-On movies - The Old Lady in White & The Girl in Black.
Even the Japanese have run out of ideas re their horror exports.
I watched Cabin Fever 2 again last night. From that difficult subgenre of comedy horror. When done right it produces Tremors, Zombieland and Slither. I loved it. I recommend it.
It sucked.
I'm currently writing a blog peice on New Nightmare - it is so hard to get into. On the evidence of this perhaps it's a good thing Wes isn't involved in the remake. He's said and done all he needed...
Darkgod I like your style. We might have to talk about part 2 at a later date.
Dream Warriors is way in front. Freddy's Revenge is misunderstood.
You gotta go back BigFatOgre. Part 3 is definately worth a retread.
Yeah the remake's supermarket scene does help sell the movie. Not long before we all give into curiosity and/or expectation.
I haven't seen the Director's Cut on any of the nightmares so I can't really comment on your take on part 5. Of course we share the same love for part 3. New Nightmare was a bitter disappointment...
I hated part 4. Part 5 was tolerable. I thought the motorcycle death was contrived and overblown. Dude was driving to his girlfriend in distress and falls asleep at the wheel?
ditto.
I agree with the stinking Freddy's Dead. New Nightmare is an accquired taste.
Yeah - horrifying horror is what does it for me too. Interesting view on Freddy's pop status. You could be right. Funny is more accessible/marketable than stoic.
Hence no Candyman reboot. Yet.
Seen the supermarket clip? It's a foretaster.<object width="400" height="225"><param name="movie"...
I liked part 2. Sort of.
But I love your opinion.
Ah. A connesuir of comedic horror. Though we share the common ground of Dream Warriors.
Yup Dream Warriors gets my vote.
New Nightmare had as much anticipation going in as this new flick. I liked the idea of from dreams to reality in the original and from film to reality in New...
Good call. The 'New Nightmare' make up was an attempt at something more demonic.
Sort of like what they're doing now with the remake.
Gotcha.
