I saw an interview with Jennifer Kent where she referenced that scene and wasn't fully for using it but in the end she decided to put it in the movie. I have no issue with it and in a way it fits...

Extremely well put! I can't remember the last time a horror flick drew me in from the start and had me engaged from beginning to end with sheer excitement like this. You also nailed it with Essie...

Yup, with nothing at all noteworthy coming out between now and the end of the year this will pretty much be my pick for best horror movie of the year.
