I find alternative theories more compelling.

It helps to understand Kubrick's movies if you read about all the theories.

Cool. I've watched a few of them. I really like Amityville II: The Possession, It's About Time and Dollhouse. Some of the others I also had fun with.

Burnt Offerings is good and obviously influenced The Shining to some degree. Wouldn't say it's better, though. My favourite 70s haunted house movie is The Amityville Horror.

Yep, a lot of crazy theories about hidden messages in The Shining, just watch the documentary Room 237. :whew:

Yeah I've read up on that theory. Possible violence or sexual abuse is implied. Unless you want to go with the supernatural version.

Everybody should see the 2 hour cut which is the best version of the film. Also, as to it being 'cartoonish', Kubrick inserted references to cartoons in the movie like Bugs Bunny and Road Runner. ...

The Shining is a classic, awesome flick. Maybe the greatest horror film of all time. It improved on the novel in every single way.
