Bones and All
Even though the filmmaker doesn't consider this a horror movie, and didn't set out to create a horror movie, it's still effective on that level. It's a coming of age film and unconventional love story. With no real spoilers, given what you see in the trailer, it's a form of cannibalism but plays as more a version of vampirism.
Beautifully shot, on film even, and set at sometime in the 1980s, the period aspect is quite subtle but more authentically done than most any other film I can think of that goes for the Spencer's Gifts version of the decade. Everything about the film was fantastic and felt like nothing modern at all. It's all quite languid and creepy, with a few scenes that will make the squeamish really uncomfortable.
Couldn't stop thinking about it afterwards.
