Moody, emotional indie flick wrapped in a pre-apocalyptic package. Recommended mainly for the socio-psychological psyche set of seekers who search out introspective substance films. I like what they did here, and was worth the watch.

I've been feeling the urge to revisit these two flicks after having not seen them in many years, and it just so happens they just played back to back on Pluto TV. I've seen both multiple times (they were two of my favorite flicks back in the '90s) but it's been a good ten, fifteen years since I last saw them. They certainly hold up. Especially the first one. Desperado had a far better budget, name actors and pyrotechnics, but El Mariachi, which Robert Rodriguez made for a measly $7,000, had to rely on pure creativity and style. And now that I've re-watched them, the completist in me is feeling the urge to finish off the trilogy with Once Upon a Time In Mexico. Not that I'm complaining. I love that flick, too.

Wonder Woman 1984. It was okay. Like the first one, Gal Gadot and Chris Pine were the best things about it. The camera freaking loves her and they have good chemistry together. Story-wise I thought it was meh, and the villains were kind of stock with no real depth, despite some passive efforts to give them some. I'd rate it about even overall with the first one, which I thought was above average but nothing overly special. 6/10
