It is. Obviously my opinion on the film will differ from the poster you were asking, but I'd give it a very similar score (I think I gave it a 7.5) and thought it was a very cool idea that was handled pretty well. If you saw and liked stuff like Trollhunter I think you'll like it Ox.

Better than Raimis take on the character in every single way. Can't wait for the sequel.

I haven't seen the movie but a friend and I were in Best Buy today and there were easilly 200 copies of the movie on DVD and BD and we just waited there until a worker asked if we needed help and we asked "Where can we find The Amazing Spider Man?" and the guy tried his best to be nice until we started cracking up and he realized it was a joke and thanked us for making his night.

Agreed. It's a great reboot and so much closer to Lee's original comics than the other films were. I'm hoping Sony and Disney/Marvel will come to an agreement that will allow Spidey to be involved with the new Marvel Universe and a future Avengers flick.

I've actually heard 'The Hobit' is actually a bit of a let down. I'm not a fan of LotR and not really looking forward to see this anyway. But from what I've read everyone has left a little disappointed.

The trailer looks like the idea is a very odd one, but it looks like it can deliver. I haven't seen Trollhunter but I've been meaning to give it a shot, this looks more appealing to me though.

Agreed. Excellent Spider-Man adaptation, in my opinion. It's tough to look at Raimi's trilogy on my shelf next to this film, just so tired of that trilogy. The third movie definitely ruined it for me, that was a piece of shit.

Yes, that's it, I'd definitely recommend checking it out. I particularly liked the alternative take on the Santa Claus story.

Pretty much this. I slightly preferred it to Troll Hunter, but agree that it shares some similarities in style with that film, so you'll probably like it if you enjoyed Troll Hunter.

No. It's the original theatrical cut. The transfer is great, although it does highlight some of the iffy effects.

Yeah that's Blu's downfall with the older films. However I don't mind it doesn't take anything away from them.

Not at all. The shark looks even more fake in the blu of Jaws but that doesn't subtract any of the awesomeness from it. Especially with older films you accept that the effects aren't as cutting edge as today's films so it's not really an issue.

I think the ol' Bruce still out shines anything I've seen in CGI. And always will. But the king of movie effects will always be The Thing. Nothing computer generated will ever top that.

Give me a good practical effect any day of the week. Matte paintings and latex shit all over pixels as far as I'm concerned, and the effects in The Thing still hold up today.

Of course they do. Having something filmed on set will always be more realistic than anything made up in Post-Production, thats if it's done right anyway. I'm so glad big modern directors like Nolan can see this. It's amazing the amount of effort and trouble he goes through to keep things real.

If only more were like him.
