First time my knife touched skin
And the red blood started flowing so quick I just couldn't quit
Kept stabbing until everything that I seen was red
The pillow, the blankets, the walls, and even the bed
One color dominating everything like contemporary art
Am I the killer or artist with bloody heart?
Then I curled into a ball in the corner of the room
Feeling like a creep in the light of the moon

    Zero Dark Thirty - 9/10

Great film. Chastain put up an outstanding performance, the rest of the cast did a stellar job, Bigelow's direction brought a gritty and realistic vibe to it and was paced nicely, the cinematography was damn good and the tension was high throughout which made the climax fantastic. I thought it was way too soon to make a film about this, especially with not very much information really known about it, so I went into it still kind of against it. But, I ended up enjoying it thoroughly and just as entertainment, not as what really happened. I mean, we are never really gonna know what happened, but this was a damn good film about how it MIGHT have happened.

This sounds like a propaganda movie. No, we are never going to know what really happened, because the 'official story' is an obvious lie..

Oh I'm with you, it most certainly is in one way or another, some people say that it's pro torture, while others say it's not. But, it's most definitely pro torture. Propaganda or not though, it's a well made and tense thriller. Of course the govt's story is a bunch of fabricated bullshit and we will never know and that's why I was against this film when I heard about it and even up until I watched it. But it sucked me in and I enjoyed the hell out of it, I just didn't take it as a serious story about what happened, more of an entertaining story on what COULD have happened. I wanted to dislike it actually, but I didn't.

Torture is not only wrong but it is a very poor way to get information. The only reason torture has ever been used throughout history is to extract false confessions. It's very good at that, because you can get most people to do anything if you've tortured them enough. I am very, very concerned about the way this world is heading..

Since there's actual discussion of torture and the torturers have enough shame and self-awareness to hide what they do now and deny it, the fact that children aren't allowed to be exploited (unwillingly, in Western countries at least), slavery is on the D/L and even though it gets ratings and sells books and tickets public displays of violence and brutality are not accepted as norm for anyone based on color or gender, etc., I'd say the world is actually in a better place than it's pretty much ever been right now.

As scary as it seems. There is no such thing as "the good old days." People were fucking stupid and barbarous. It's only recently we're really, collectively, letting it bother us and are capable and willing to acknowledge shit is fucked up.

To that end, I strongly believe that Django Unchained is a far better anti-bigotry, anti-slavery film than Spielberg's Lincoln, however good a character DDL does once again.

I hadn't seen this before, blind buy on BluRay. I regret taking so long to checking it out. Fabulous film. Kubrick was an absolute genius, no matter the genre, he was within the very elite of his trade without worry. Such an unsettling War film. Most of the parts were played well, and the overall feel of the film is just so dehumanizing. Loved it. Probably my new favourite war flick. Something everyone really needs to see. The transfer was only average though. 9.5/10

    Mortal Kombat
Great seeing this is BluRay! I have a soft spot for this being a huge fan of most of the games, I do think the movie is a well done fun flick. Goro still looks absolutely amazing, there are some scenes where is is a bit stiff, but others where he just looks full blown real. Great to see he holds up. Transfer was pretty nice too.

There were no "good old days" but not everyone in the past was stupid or barbarous, either. You probably had some great periods of history contrasted with some not so great ones..

But, you may speak only for your cosy existence in a 'western country'. However, in other parts of the world this horrible shit is still happening. Which is why it is important for those with more privilege to set a better example. If we stoop down to the level of the exploiters/torturers/etc then this world is going to go to hell very quickly.

Freedom is such a precious thing, that no matter how slight it might be, it must be defended at all costs. The only other alternative is total tyranny and enslavement.

Great seeing it on BluRay with a decent transfer. I hate to say it, but the CGI is begining to age. It has held up very, very well for a 16 year old or so movie. Some scenes still look great but others are starting to look a bit tacky. It doesn't take too much away from the feel. I've always had a soft spot for this flick. Some new features would have been nice.
