Same here. And I enjoyed it as well.
Hitchcock - 8.4/10
Damn good film. You forget your watching Hopkins because he did such an amazing job. Mirren was great too and the rest of the cast was pretty good as well. But, the story is the most interesting part, I'm not familiar with everything he had to go through for Psycho, so I don't know how accurate it is, but it's engrossing and makes me want to go on a Hitchcock binge.
Definitely worth a watch.

My thoughts exactly. Hopkins was brilliant. So much so that you forget you're watching an actor.
I thought the film felt more like a tele movie and it could have delved a little deeper but these are just minor gripes. Overall I thought it was excellent and all Hitchcock and film buffs will get a kick out of it.

Blue Velvet
My first time seeing this, what a great flick. They just don't make mysteries like this anymore. Hopper was absolutely amazing as Frank. Had me glued to my seat throughout the entire film. So glad I picked this up!! The Blu isn't the best transfer, but I'm guessing it wasn't filmed on the finest film either, it's vastly improved over the scenes I saw in the features though. 9/10

TMNT (2007, 6/10)
Like most folks who were 80's brats I loved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I went into this animated flick hoping to recapture some of those fond memories, instead I found myself wondering why the filmmakers wasted their time. The animation reminded me of the early Tomb Raider games and the presence of Sarah Michelle Gellar kept me from rating this 5/10 but the flick was more a disrespect to the turtles than anything else. Oh well, at least it wasn't as bad as the rumor from last year that Michael Bay was going to redo them as aliens, now that would have been a travesty.

Premium Rush 8/10
This was one hell of an entertaining flick. Gordon Levitt is really underrated.

Criminal Lovers (1999) ~ 8 / 10 - François Ozon
Oh! Ozon!! Each day I respect you more.
This kind of moral fable begins as the murderers of the honeymoon continues as Bonnie & Clyde and ends becoming a perverse version of Hansel and Gretel. Ozon is a moralist backwards. Use the provocation to grow their characters, so they lose the innocence.
I even took the audacity to make a video of one of the scenes:Said's body, brown and strong, skin iridescent and hairless. Light scent of sweat. Fresh, salty, warm, spicy. Skin soft and smooth, veins showing under tense, tight muscles. When blade penetrate flesh, the body shakes, twists and writhes. Dark red blood spurts like sperm. Burning stain. Last jolt, breath of life extinguished. Then nothing. Empty eyes, staring white. Saliva frozen, cold invades. Said's body dead, killed, assassinated. We look at each other, breathless. Luc, I love you.

Special Effects
...another '80s film I couldn't finish. I was initially excited since Zoe Lund (Ms.45) was in this but she couldn't save it. She was obviously in her heroin days when this was made. What a shame.

Seven Psychopaths - 10/10
This was a fucking blast!
It's well written, funny as hell, the violence is cranked way up and there are a number of stories that keep it interestingly bizarre.
Rockwell is so god damn underrated, what he does for the cemetery shootout scene is fucking gold. Farrell, Walken, Waits and Woody were all great too and they all throw in a bunch of laughs. There's also emotion to be had here, as the characters are so good that you end up really rooting for some and even feel a bit for the ones you root against.
Great film, loved it, watching it again tomorrow.
