...Robert Duvall was entertaining as hell here, though it's a quirky little indie. It co-stars the Columbian born Angie Cepeda who is, holy cow, an amazingly gorgeous creature.

Homefront
...not really much of a Jason Statham fan though seeing him with a Nicholas Cage, ala Con Air, mullet was good for a laugh. It wasn't too bad just very by-the-numbers stuff here (script by Sylvester Stalone). The action movie equivalent to pop music in a way. It had what could have been a pretty interesting bunch of characters given the cast but they all seemed to tone it down so's not to make Statham look dull by comparison, I guess. I normally can't stand Kate Bosworth but she was really the only one who wasn't phoning it in and completely believable as a white trash tweaker mom. Her's was the only character with any sort of development as well.
The photography was very CW drama. Bright and sharp. Modern cinematography leans heavily on over-exposure. The resulting image doesn't look like reality or film but something different. I can't say that I dislike the aesthetic but it calls attention to itself.
Though the film is set in podunk Louisiana nobody really had anything in the way of an accent that would place them in the South much less Louisiana. Having said all that though if I could only change one thing about the film it would be to correct the injustice of not having near enough scenes with Rachelle Lefevre. But I could say that about just about everything she's in.

Gattaca ('97) I'd probably give it a 7.5/10.. I forgot how much I liked this movie. I really enjoy these types of sci-fi stories where it's not all about lasers and aliens and such.
