I was more talking about Cat Woman's sub plot here. The program they kept referring to. It's ludicrous and written by and for people who don't actually understand how things work. It was a really unnecessary device, that really added nothing to the story. She could have been hired for and done and arc'd exactly the same as she does in the film without this garbage.

Wayne taking off felt like it was more about Nolin retiring from Batman and giving the franchise over to someone new, a "me and Christian are out, here you go," sort of thing.

Most of Bane's backstory just seemed like stuff that's fine in comic books but realizing in a "serious" film, or as serious as you can get with people running around in costumes, just would have been too hard. I loved the way his mask was re-designed so he didn't look like a luchador. Not knowing anything about him, when I saw the trailer I looked the character up and I was really worried he was just going to be campy and this was suddenly going to take a bad Schumacher turn but he ended up being my favorite thing about the film. Making his power and menace tied to some unobtanium creates a weakness far greater than needing the mask to subdue pain, however ridiculous even that notion is. This Bane at least comes off slightly plausible.

I guess it's a fine line. I don't want changes that are totally disrespectful of the underlying character of a character. The details around this I'm less interested in so far as they can't hurt the film representation. Anything that would make for a lesser film, first and foremost, has to go. The comics are there for the folks that love the comics. When you go to the movies you're sharing the characters with people who could really care less.

Nebraska. 9.5/10. There is just so much in this movie that resonated with me. I genuinely loved this movie, through and through.

That's actually a really fair assessment. I honestly don't expect people to understand where I'm coming from with my rating. My dad's side of the family is from Nebraska. . He died when I was nine and the only connection I had to his slice of life was my Grandpa and Grandma on the phone. My grandma till the day she died called me a faggot communist.. but my grandpa, he was one cool cowboy. Sadly he died without me knowing much about the way he lived, I went out of my way to go to his memorial. . But no one wanted to talk about him. It was like he was this great disappointment. Years later I did this cross country bus tour and one of the stops was an Indian reservation on the border of South Dakota. I shit you not, they knew my last name. I asked them if they knew my grandpa and this huge story came out.. more than I'd ever known about my grandpa, how he'd donated a substantial cut of his inheritance to the tribe about who he was as a person. . It was just weird. I stood upon this ground that I'd never known before and who my grandpa was as a person.. made me so goddam proud of those who had come before me.

Draft day. 4/10. What's weird about this flick, for me at least, is that how I relate to this flick is as being a fan of the "big bad team" in this movie. I followed the Seahawks when it was a punch line to some nfl joke that I was a fan of some team that struggled to even register on the ESPN radar. I was a fan of the Seahawks when we got Shaun Alexander and I accepted the fact that we got to the Super Bowl because of that fact and I was a fan even when we lost because of that fact. I'm going to be honest, I dropped out after the 08 season. It got depressing watching week after week as they slid back to being a punch line. I regained interest when I heard that we were taking chances.. drafting players that no one else wanted. We started becoming a joke to the ESPN crowd.. but not in the same way. This time it was them making fun of us, but we believed in what Carroll was creating. Two years later? That team got a Super Bowl win and the next year we become the "big bad team" that screws over the little guys in a Costner flick. Oh, how the times have changed.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For - excellent sequel as a standalone film.. not really, but as a sequel it rocks and Jessica Alba, I was really surprised at how better she was, she really kicked ass
