Evil Ed (1995)* Disc - We blind bought this on an Arrow sale. So freaking happy we did and now totally get why so many people love this one. It was fun as hell.

Ginger Snaps (2000) Shudder - Still love this one.
Event Horizon (1997) Disc - Aside from some seriously dated CGI at points this still a solid flick I waited way too long to watch.

The Sacrament (2013) Disc - While West never claimed this to be an accurate representation of Jonestown I did enjoy him not feeding the “they all passively lined up and drank the Flavor Aid” myth. It also has one of the most believable cult leaders I’ve ever seen in a movie.

Better Watch Out (2016) Disc - Out of season but testing the disc. The marketing for this one really did misrepresent the entire film. As cool as a horror remake of Home Alone could be, this wasnt that. It’s a pretty strong, trapped in a house movie.

Fried Barry (2020)* Shudder - I’ve seen this done countless times before but this is probably one of the most abstract and well executed ones I’ve seen. It is kind of out there but beautifully shot.

I love Evil Ed. I remember reading an article on it Fango back in the '90s; the FX artist learned the craft and based all his effects on what he saw in Tom Savini's two Grande Illusions books. The refrigerator demon: based on the crate monster in Creepshow. A character getting their arm blown off at the elbow: identical to an effect Savini created for Red Scorpion. And on and on. EE's a really fun flick, and the effects a big reason why.

I also saw Ginger Snaps this weekend on Shudder, as it appeared on The Last Drive-In. I had only seen that movie once before, when I reviewed it for a website I was a staffer at when it first hit DVD back in the early '00s. I'd forgotten how good it was.
