Swamp Thing (1982), on Tubi. Used to love this flick as a kid. Surprisingly, Tubi has the European cut, which features the full, gratuitous Adrienne Barbeau boob scene only hinted at in the US cut (to quote Teri Hatcher in Seinfeld, "They're real, and they're spectacular!"). Anyway, it had been many years since I last watched this, so I picked up on a number of things I didn't notice when I was younger -- namely that the story is a crapshoot, the pacing is scattershot, Craven's direction is utilitarian at best and the monster suits are pretty laughable. You can't blame that on the movie's age, as even forty years ago practical and prosthetic effects were advanced enough that they could have done way better. Still, though it's far from perfect, the nostalgist this aging Gen Xer can't help but think fondly of it.

Excellent and beautifully shot samurai film from Takashi Miike. The story is pretty minimal, and the film is off to a slowish start... but man once it gets going, its great.

This is cheesy as hell, but pretty much an interesting and action packed ride all the the way through. In spite of the atrocious acting, this is one of Sergio Martino's finest films. Recommended with alcoholic beverages in hand.

Ridiculously action packed cult film from Neil Marshall. This film has everything: a deadly virus, cannibals, knights in armor... Its all over the place, but I enjoy the hell out of it.

Seen this before a few times. Quality British thriller/mystery. Good performances from Thora Birch and Daniel Brocklebank. Worth seeing.
