I hadn't watched this in a very long time because it came on TV so much I just got uninterested. Well I was going through the On Demand movies I came across it on Encore. It being unedited for content I figured I'd give it a watch.

I had forgotten just how good this movie was. Its really good at the creepy factor and showing that Halloween isn't so much about a body count and gore as it is at being creepy and having good atmosphere. Its got one of my favorite opening sequances with the "you don't know what death is" line and the theme song beginning. Its also widely helped by the news bulletins about an escaped mental patient bieng in the area. Then the girl talking about how her friend was driving home and saw him walking in a field. It makes it creepy and fun. I like the paranoia of people knowing that some escaped mental patient had murdered people right down the street.

That "mental patient" stuff is what made The Hook one of my favorite urban legends as a kid. And the kid that had a razorblade stuck in his mouth cuz of halloween candy was just classic. As far as im concerned the halloween series ends with this movie in my book. There should have been no other sequals after this one. Its one of the better horror movie sequals to me made I think. It actually furthering the story instead of just doing the same thing over again.

Hands down the best Halloween sequal, the only real thing i didn't like about this one is that the masked looked a little different, too bad they lost the original.

I like Halloween 2 better than Halloween 1... Halloween 1 bores the hell out of me... always has... 2 has a bit more action and is in my opinion a lot more entertaining.

yea, one of the best sequals ever i would say. and i highly agree about the opening scene when the chick is talking to her friend.
"I can hear the sirens..." gives me the chills.

sweet sequal, I don't understand why people bash it so much. I understand there was no need for a sequal, but the way the original ended, it was a great sequal that literally pick up where it ended. How many flicks with sequals have done that.
And it still had the same spooky vibe to it and the score was great too.

This is the best sequel in the series, to bad part 4 couldn't come up with a better excuse for Michael & Loomis still being alive other than they just survived.

I used to really like this sequel until I re-watched it on Halloween. It starts out very promising but quickly goes downhill as soon as it all revolves around the hospital. Movie really did nothing for me.

Beat me too it KM. Halloween 2 is a hardcore shitfest. While I blame the script for a lot of it, I blame the rest of director Rick Rosenthal. His direction and the chosen aestetics make me want to scream in frustration.

The music in Halloween 2 is appallingly terrible. They fucked with the original halloween theme and it really sounds bad, I dont know what Carpenter was thinking.

The use of that awful "Mr.Sandman" Song is an instant brain diarrhea. I think aside from the miscelanious lame kills that Myers uses there is how Myers is handled in this movie.

He's slow..very slow, if he were any slower, a group of impotent slugs having an orgry could finish fucking eachothers brains out before he finished walking accross a 25 ft hallway.

Sure, Myers has never been that fast of a moving character, but in this movie DAMN! It really abuses this.

I honestly wish that Carpenter adn Hill had put a little more into this script and that Carpenter had directed the movie himself.

I watched them ages ago and completely thought they were complete crap, but i watched the whole lot, except pt3 (what the fuck were they thinking) and thought it was a whole lot better. There is deffinately a differance in mike myers with the new actor which is a bad thing because he's moves totaly different.

Its a good sequel.

For me, the sequel sold me because of its direct continuation with the first film. Loomis was good, but he was'nt as good as the first and when he walks out the door in the beginning with the new scenes shot for the second film. He looks older, which sorta killed the moment.

Also the grass was much thicker in the lawn compared to the dry looking grass that the first film had. It was just minor things like these that I did'nt enjoy. I thought the music was ok, it was'nt great but it was'nt bad.

This movie is carried by Loomis much moreso than the first film imo. Because Curtis has nothing to do in this movie except sleep until the finale. The kills were kinda weak, I can agree to that. They also showed Myers too much compared to the first film. Obviously it was a sequel, so the luster of keeping Myers hidden would'nt be as effective. That said, keeping him hidden in the 2nd film would've payed off in huge dividends.

Unlike the first film, the supporting characters in this film were pretty bad. Outside of Loomis, Curtis and the deputy. The characters were pretty bad in this movie which definitely bring it down a notch or so.

Overall, a good sequel in the series. One of the best sequels continuity wise. But it did have its fair share of negatives.
