A Nightmare on Elm Street Expansion??

    Dawn of the Dead
    The Amityville Horror
    The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
    Halloween
    Friday the 13th
    The Evil Dead
    The Hills Have Eyes

These are all remakes or soon to be remakes of movies that can be considered "classic" horror flicks.. When you mention classic horror flicks, the usual 80's movies come to mind. What one classic horror flick/franchise isn't included? ANOES.

If the recent rash or remake success tells us anything it's that we should expect the inevitable.. of course, nobody could ever play Freddy Krueger like Robert Englund, right? Well you can probably expect a new talent to be in there when this happens. Englund is getting up there in age and may not be able to fulfill the physical requirements for too much longer.

We may not see this for a few years, maybe even a decade.... But you can guarantee that this will have a re-imaging or a remake or something along those lines....

How do you think you will feel when this happens?

I think in order to remake a NOES you need Englund in it. But in order to remake something you need new actors and etc. Ill check it out...but it wont beat the original IMO.

Wont care. A remake may be shitty, but it honors the original (most likely in a bad way)

I was reading something on an ANOES remake and it said Englund was not in favor of it. I cant recall what website it was but something to ponder.

I wonder if there will be protests. Maybe people setting themselves on fire or blowing themselves up outside of film studios.

Englund could have a cameo, but I don't think he would HAVE to play Krueger in a prequel. new series, new monster.

I think the remake is on hold because of the alleged prequel. we have no control over remakes. everything will be remade for the sake of cash. Hellraiser-I'm not sure on my feelings for this one. remake-no, Clive writing it-yes. 50/50 right now.

We know how Craven is about them, as long as you got the money honey he's got the time.

Part of the original's charm was how gritty and low quality it looked. I've never been a real damner of remakes, but I just don't think I could watch this one.

    Look at it this way.

    15-20 years from now.

Scream, Saw and Blairwitch will be remade.

    Nothing is untouchable IMO.

Inevietably things die out, but the movie industry can go forever IMO. All they need is new faces to plug in the holes for every new generation and they make their money. It was no different yesterday than it will be tomorrow.

Honestly, I have to AGREE with you. Regardless of how the remake turns out, the original is still there, it always will be there, it's not like they are George Lucas and re-edit and addnew scenes in. Good example, Zombies HALLOWEEN, no carpernter music, so what. Keep in mind it's ZOMBIES halloween, i just wanna see the damned movie. Im not losing sleep over the "destruction" of a remake, it's just something that isn't THAT upsetting. NOES may be cool if remade, heck with the new technology it may be really cool, if the right writer and director came along, go for it, you all know youll see it anyway. I love the people that protest remakes, then get on this board after they come out and say how the remake sucked. Then why did u see it if you were protesting it? EVERYONE on this board will see HALLOWEEN, HELLRAISER ETC.

The remake brigade has already crossed the line with Halloween so raping NOES is the next logical step. Of course I'll end up seeing them both since I'm a hopeless horror nut.

Not to get back on the "FUCK ZOMBIE'S HALLOWEEN" bandwagon, but I just don't understand why his movie has to be a Halloween movie. His ideas are crazy, but interesting. They are, however, completely wrong for a Halloween flick. I'd love to see Zombie make a fucked-up serial killer flick that has nothing to do with Halloween with all of the craziness of his Halloween script (yes, even the animal torture/masturbation thing).

Back on topic, NO ENGLUND=NO NOES. He made that character. He made that franchise. Anything NOES without him is sacrelige. PERIOD.

Why not make some NEW MOVIES with NEW CHARACTERS and NEW IDEAS?

Actually, that's not true with everybody. Some people on here, like myself, boycott the remake because we don't want to help the film industry to sweep in the money and want the remake era to stop. I get annoyed with people who say that I will end up going to see it, and come on here and say how much it sucked, but I'm not one of those people, and I'm sure there are many others on this board who aren't either.

As for a remake of Nightmare on Elm Street, I would refuse to watch it. In my opinion, Freddy Krueger is untouchable. Robert Englund is the only man who can play him and give him that vicious yet darkly humorous personality. I would like a prequel, but that will be hard to squeeze through the wringer due to the fact that Freddy killed children, and the masses don't like to see the deaths of innocence. I personally think that, if done right, a prequel would bring back the vicious nature that Freddy had in the original film. He's not just the funny, wise cracking burned dude that kills teens in their dreams, he was once a real and terrifying person who got off on destroying the innocents of a small town. I think that film should be made rather than a remake.

However, once Robert Englund passes away, I fear they MIGHT wait a year before making a remake, and that's IF we're lucky.

Sorry to say, but just because a few people choose to ignore the movie doesn't mean it's sales will suffer.

BTW, I feel that Englund is famous for the role of Freddy because of later sequels like 3-6... In the first 2 films, Freddy does not receive a whole lot of screen time and he surprisingly doesn't really say that much.

If the series stopped after 2 films, Englund wouldn't be as well known for the role IMO.
