That's what I thought for a while too, and while I do enjoy JRPGs at times, especially the older ones I grew up with (can't count how many times I've beat Final Fantasy 4, and I still go back to it), I never really cared to look into Fire Emblem. My best friend from high school was a huge fan, but that's about all I knew. I'm almost 4 hours into this title, and I can see why she's a huge fan of the series. It's honestly a fun game. The grid-based combat is tons of fun. You've still got your JRPG feel to it with the stories, characters, level up systems, etc, but obviously the combat is different.
As I said before, another aspect I really like is the permadeath. From what I've read, other than the main character to your party, pretty much everyone who dies will stay dead, meaning you can't use them in your party anymore. Some characters are tied to the story, so they'll still show up in cutscenes through your travels, but you can't use them in combat anymore. So far, it seems like most of the characters I've recruited have some dialogue in the story, so it doesn't seem to have the real feel of death yet, but then, I've only had one die, and that's just this game. I've read most people will do resets when a character dies, but I plan on keeping it realistic, where if someone dies, no resetting. Just come to terms with that character being dead.
Another thing I've been liking with this particular title is that the game is separated in chapters. It usually starts and ends with the story progressing, with a battle in the middle. The battle can sometimes take me 10-15 minutes or so to complete. I like it because it gives me a good excuse to take a break and go do something else. For instance, I'm about to play one chapter right now, then go to bed.
Like I said, I'm only about 4 hours in, and I'm still in the tutorial chapters (10 chapters of that), but I've been having a lot of fun so far, and I'm definitely planning on going to the end with it and then starting on the next. If you have any interest, I definitely recommend it. Pretty easy to emulate. That's what I'm doing.
Oh yeah, finally got an e-mail back about my ban on PoE. Was planning on playing it this weekend. So, I got banned on Friday morning, and finally got an e-mail back and unbanned on Sunday night. My luck

Been making good progress in Fallout 4, and exploring a lot. Shooting raiders in the face is fun.

Yeah, Ori and the Willow and the Wisps (or something along those lines) has been announced. Ori and the Blind Forest is a fantastic game. The one I borrowed from Val is the "definitive edition" and it has a whole bunch of new updates from the original. If you are going to pick it up, I suggest grabbing that copy because they apparently added in a lot of shit.
The platforming in this game is a blast and I am definitely now hyped for the sequel. The story is great too from what I've played so far. I feel like I will also be 100%ing this.
Ok, done gushing over it lol

Was playing Megaman 7 last night and while I cleared my way through the majority of the game with no real difficulty, the final Wily machine is really giving me a hard time. I must have played him a dozen times last night and only came close to beating him twice. Definitely the hardest section of a Megaman game I've found. On the positive side though, it's a great reminder of how beating a game used to be an actual accomplishment. I'll get back to him today and take that eyebrow raising bastard down.
