Stallone Considers Death Wish
Rambo eyeing up another revenge thriller.

UK, November 5, 2007 - Sylvester Stallone suffered a critical and commercial failure with Get Carter, his last attempt at remaking a revenge thriller, but that doesn't look like it will stop him from dipping his toe in the genre again for a remake of Death Wish.
According to Variety, MGM is currently in talks with Stallone to direct and star in a remake of Michael Winner's hugely influential 1974 flick, which starred Charles Bronson as an architect who turns violent vigilante when his wife is murdered by a gang of thugs.
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines scribes Michael Ferris and John Brancato have been hired to update the story, with MGM hoping that the film will be the first in a potential series.
"We are looking at our library to determine which franchise properties make the most sense for us to produce, and Death Wish was clearly one that jumped out," explained MGM chief operating officer Rick Sands. "We hope to get a deal done with Sylvester Stallone to direct and star, and like the Rocky and Rambo films, we see this as another potential franchise for him."
A start date will depend on the length of the current writers strike, although MGM are keen to get the film into production by March.
