Horror flicks set in the future could also be considered period pieces I suppose. In that case though, there haven't been many good ones haha. Leprechaun In Space, Dracula 3000 (or whatever it was), Jason X....

I didn't know who the director was when I saw it and I enjoyed the hell out of it, even the ending.

Bell Witch the Movie(not An American Haunting that movie sucked ass juice imo)
    Bram Stokers Dracula

and probably not considered a horror movie but I also liked The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer.

I know its not really a horror film more of a thriller but I thought Zodiac did a great job in not only showing a time period but jumping around to several and staying very accurate right down to the types of cars and billboards yould see in the background. I was way impressed with that movie. From Hell was pretty good too I guess. The gore in the movie seemed to be straight from Cannibal Corpse's 'The Bleeding' cover.

I don't know if Frankenstein is really a period movie, unless you're referring to the remake w/ Robert De Niro. The original Frankenstein was a modernization of Mary Shelly's, so it was taking place in the present, if I remember correctly the movie wasn't trying to replicate the nineteenth century.
