    Thumbs up Cinematic Titanic....

Funny, almost 10 years ago MST3k was cancelled after ten years on the air, even though the shows ended and the cast and crew have moved on, it would seem that the spirit of the show just wont die.

Mike Nelson who was the shows host for its final 6 years has moved onto doing 'rifftrax' along with some of the other MST3k cast and just recently they've starting riffing bad films again under the title 'the film crew'.

Just recently it was anounced that Joel Hodgson who was the shows creator and host for the first 4 years has snagged half of the original MST3k cast to onec again riff bad films under the project titled 'cinematic titanic'. they havent announced what film they're gonna riff yet, but I look forward to whatever it is.

As an MST3k Fan I think its really cool that even though the shows ended, that after all these years everyones gotten back to making fun of movies again.

MST3k really opened my eyes to bad films and how much fun so many of them can be.

Though I doubt that many folks here are MST3k fans, thought I'd post the news here for those of us who are.

Cool news! 'The Film Crew' is working out well. They haven't lost a step.

Here's a clip from 'Hollywood After Dark'...

I was a huge fan of MST during season 2. Within two more seasons it got more than a little predictable. It just wasn't as good.

And I hated the episodes with Mike hosting. I didn't really appreciate Mike's personality as much as Joel's, and was feeling tired with the show as it was.

Season 2 was still one of the best things ever to happen to television.

Meh, anyway, I probably won't be checking any of these out unless they do a really good job. Or unless they make Wild Rebels accessible without needing to buy the whole collection.

I got into the series later, seasons 8-10 so I missed Joel and grew up with Mike.

Well, I cant see any of the seasons being predictable really. when it comes down to it its about whatever crappy film they watch, Admittidly there are some films their riffing just couldnt make watchable, like 'hell cats', 'beast of yucca flats', and 'invasion of the neptune men'.

But at the same time being exposed to 'the creeping terror, 'Godzilla vs Megalon', 'the final sacrifice' and 'Mitchell' was too good to pass up.

I'm just happy they're all up to no good, I hope the entire team gets back tpgether and work on the same projects.

Show doesn't really strike me like it use to. I still like it but haven't really felt the urge to re watch any eps or hunt down ones I didn't see. Haven't checked out any of the rifftrax film crew stuff. I was hoping they'd branch away from riffing.

If you haven't already, check out Kevin Murphy's "A year at the movies" a really good book about the film going experience.

Was never a fan of this show. Probably should have gotten high before I watched it.

Only watched the show sparingly, however I do pay tribute to the series when I visit the movie theaters with my own commentary for movies deserving it. :movies:

Odd, I would have figured that you of all people would have been a fan of the show Steelba. Always seem to me like aguy who cant help but yell at a film in theatres.

I thikn we all have in some way riffed stuff right in front of our friends...and gotten the desired results.

I had the most fun riffing on 'witch hunter robin' which I considar some of the most obnoxiously stupid anime ever hyped.

If only the two teams would join forces. I can only hope there isn't much double dipping of films over the next few years...

Considering current late 80s, all of 90s, and even some 2000 released flicks, a new series poking fun at some of the 'quality' on the screen might be welcomed by folks...heck, its better than another reality show.

I'm surprised this has such a big fan base, I've only heard its name pop up a few times.

It's always been an underground show really. Infamous among college film students as well as other weird people.

Course you need to know a good amount of history, politics, pop culture(of the 70's and 80s) to really appriciate the show.

They can go from star wars references, to ww2, to MASH,to the bible in a matter of moments.
