Jason Goes To Hell came out in 93. Jason X came out in 2002, 9 years later.

Time between movies has nothing to do with whether or not a series is actually dead. Hell, it took them like 5 years to come out with a sequel after H20.

Yeah right...any true horror fan who knows anything about the Hollywood money making machine knows thats false. The true series is not only NOT dead...but in a few years, Zombie's monstrosity will fade into the shadows, and the original Halloween movies will still be the ones we see playing on cable in October, and being referenced in Horror Film lore.

Really??? Because The Dawn of the Dead remake came out in 2004....since then, not only has another sequel to the ORIGINAL dead series come out, but another is about to be release, and there's already another sequel in the works as well.

those movies can be looked at on their own. there are no recurring characters and most people probably figure Land is a seqeul to the Dawn remake.

It doesn't matter if there are no recurring characters. They're still sequels. And I seriously doubt that MOST people think Land is a sequel to the Dawn remake. In fact, I don't know of ANYONE that does. Your just fishing now dude. The original Halloween will eventually have a sequel...and zombie's will fade into obscurity...deal with it.

Thats why Halloween was just as played out as Friday the 13th. despite what elitest Halloween fans say. Friday the 13th had really no overall plot points in most entries but they did what they did in every movie and usually did it well. Halloween did that for awhile too until they started stretching.

Still say Nightmare is the best despite what people say about the Freddy Krueger character and this is coming from a diehard Friday fan.

It has nothing to do with living in the past...it's about living in the present and the power of the almighty dollar in todays world. Halloween isn't dead, and neither is Friday, or Nightmare...those are 3 movie series' that will always continue on. Don't take it out on me because your hero sucks shit at making movies, and totally blew his opportunity to make a decent halloween movie. Fact is, even after the Friday remake comes out, and even if they make a Nightmare remake...there will still be sequels to those series', just like Halloween.

The first example that jumps to mind to refute that is that a lot of people in their thirties and forties, if you ask them about Invasion of the Body Snatchers, a lot of them will probably think back to the 70s remake, the one they saw with their friends when they were young. Yeah, the original is more popular on a general level, but they'll remember that one personally. Same thing with this Halloween remake.

Look at the Hills Have Eyes series, I think twenty years from now people are only gonna look back on the 2004 version as the truly good one, and move onto those sequels. I know personally (aside from the board) two or three people who saw the original HHE, and I don't know anyone who saw the sequel to the original.

I think I'm actually one of a lot of people who are hoping Wes Craven's version will fade away into Hollywood's horror movie special-ed background and never be referenced again within the next fifteen years or so.

I don't think it's in the works yet, but Tyler Mane signed up for another Halloween, a sequel to Zombie's, and even though people are always gonna associate Halloween with John Carpenter, Zombie will always be right behind him.

Some will just assume forget or act like it never happened but its always there.

You make some good points though. Generation gaps may be the deciding factor on what a generation may view as a good movie or not a good movie. Nevertheless there are some movies that are incontroversally proveable to be absolute shit regardless if it was in 2007, 1987 or 1977.

I view a movie like Halloween 1978 as a classic that kick started the slasher sub genre. Nevertheless the movie has some wear and tear on it now a good 25 years later. The remake while entertaining in both versions. Doesnt hold an atmospheric candle to the original whatsoever. Rob Zombie's Halloween was entertaining but a victim of what was presumebly and/or evidently a rushed production or a mediocre filmmaker.
