I don't know... I know I would have not done the same thing. I mean they got that far why not try some more. I thought he did it too easily, I mean come on his son?!? but I don't know, I will have to probably watch it again.

Yup, we got clapping in my theater at that part too.

I didnt really like the ending but when I think about it I dont like the endings to alot of his movies. I really hated the ending to the movie It.

    spoilers:

I know I would have been a lot more pissed if he kept the original ending (the land cruiser just driving off into the mist). I knew getting deeper and deeper into the movie that it was so intriguing and I just wanted some sort of closure. 'going off into the whatever' endings are fine if it's like DOTD '79 where I know there will be another film to continue the phenomonon. But I knew there wouldn't be a sequal to this from Darabont, and I definitely didn't want one.

For some reason the ending really got to me. It's not that I didn't like it, I did, I thought the ending to the movie was terrifying in a way that the movie was not (although it was pretty scary).

The ending to the book was good, too, but that worked for the book. I think that things that work in literature form don't really work sometimes for movie versions.

The message boards are on fire with people bitching and moaning about the ending. All that tells me is that Darabont got to people, and that's what counts. It affected people in a way, and to me that makes it good.

I enjoyed it, nice change of pace to the usual saw clones, and japanese remakes we've been getting lately.

And in my opinion on of the few movies that are actually better than the source material.

The ending is truly terrifying. Thomas Jane played it very well.

Times are looking grim these days - holding onto everything - it's hard to draw the line. I, am hiding in this empty space, tortured by my memories of what i've left behind
