Yeah, but once you reach your eighties (although there're a lot of pretty healthy eighty year olds this doesn't apply to), pretty much everything becomes strenuous. I've only seen the first one, and he did quite a bit of running in there, but he was only in his forties; but I would imagine he's got a few action beats in all the others as well. How old was he when the last one came out?
And I didn't even recognize him in Incident On and Off a Mountain Road, thanks for pointing that out. Was he the old man tied to the chair?
Those writers better get off strike because I am really hoping this is a solid clincher.

Angus Scrimm and Reggie Banister make the Phantasm movies leave it alone and don't screw it up by bringing in people that are not a part of the Phantasm franchise....

I doubt very much now about a Part V. Any new Phantasm movie will more then likely be a remake. It is a shame though as I would love this story to have a solid final.

Pretty much what i'm thinking. I'd really wish Coscarelli would bring resolution and closure to the series.
Phantasm is IMO the absolute best of the series by far. It's one of the most original horror movies ever and it pains me though to think that it'll be remade.
Coscarelli was fortunate to do it early on like he did - before the bowels of Hollywood influence take over the creativity. Way too many flicks are the same tired reruns cranked out of the same predictable molds. Phantasm is a cut above the fray.

I want a Phantasm V! Don Coscarelli said somewhere in 2010 that he was going to do another one. But who knows, unless John Dies at the End does really well and gets a lot of praise and that movie looks really creative.

I really like the Phantasm series. I can't see a remake or P5 being any good. Who knows though.
In an interview with Bloody Disgusting Coscarelli said of Phantasm 5:
"Listen, we’re all getting older but the desire is there. We’ve been cooking up a couple ideas, and I like to think that as soon as ['John Dies at the End' is] wrapped up we’ll try to get something going. Cause you know, over the years I’ve written a number of different iterations of ‘Phantasm’, and I’d just hate not to ever realize any of that. But it’s funny how this many years later people still care about it. That’s mind-boggling…I guess that’s the beauty and the curse »

I don't see this happening simply because Angus Schrimm is too old to play The Tall Man and there would be a major fuss casting somebody else. The only way they make it work is if somehow they make The Tall man change his appearance for whatever damned reason.
In the end I would have to lay my bets down that they will do a sequel and it will be raped with over-use of CGI.

Yeah, I tried to remember the last time he ever ran for the most part of all 4 movies, but he only did it in the first one and the rest he just does a fashionable and haunting walk. Angus isn't too old, but he will be if Don doesn't do anything soon. I don't care if it looks cheesy or anything, I can live with flying spheres being CGI just as long as they're not when they kill people, and that there will still be good use for practical effects and to make it an epic conclusion.

It's one of the more original horror films ever made, and deserves another chapter, but I'm dead set against a remake.

I think Coscarelli lost interest in this project years ago.
I remember some buzz around 2001 or 2 about him wanting to make "Phantasm's End".and that he was trying to sign Bruce Campbell on to play the part of a military officer staging an attack against the Tall man, with Mike and Reggie's help.
And I also remember something about him trying to raise like just a few million dollars to get it all going, but looks like he didnt have any takers.
My memory might be a little fuzzy on all this tho.
An interesting quote from Don at the end of this page.
