Dune to return once again to our Screens

During an interview with this week with director Peter Berg ("The Kingdom," "The Rundown"), the helmer confirmed to MTV News the rumor that he will direct a new film based on Frank Herbert's sci-fi novel classic "Dune. Calling the plans for him to direct "a done deal," Berg said "if it weren't for the writer's strike, we'd be in it right now" and calls the film's scale "big big big." Berg says that while there's no script yet, but they have a list of writers they plan to go out to once the strike settles. "Dune" has been translated twice to the screen before - in the divisive and somewhat trippy 1984 David Lynch film epic, and in a more literal 4.5 hour Sci-Fi Channel mini-series adaptation in 2000. Berg also confirmed reports from earlier this week that pre-Dune he'll be directing the Tom Cruise thriller "Edwin A. Salt."
I love the Dune Book series. I've read 5 out of the 6 orrigenal Series, now starting Butlerian Jihad from the Legend's Trilogy, found the 84 film entertaining yet to cheesy and not loyal enough and loved the Mini-Series and it's sequel. All that said, do I want there to be another film? No. I feel it's been done enough with just the 2 outings they did.

    Thoughts?

I bought the first book years ago when I was teen. Didn't get into it then. Someday I'll pick it up again.

Never seen any of the movie adaptations. Jodorowsky's would have been very interesting.

heard the books are hard to get into, but I enjoyed those Sci-Fi channel Dune flicks. A big screen epic could be worth a watch. And there are SO many Dune books they could make these forever.
