    Wrong Turn

So, after enjoying the sequel, I thought I would go back and revisit the original. I remember liking it when I saw it and thought I would re-watch it to see if I could discover some new things. I must say that upon revisiting it I was pleasantly suprised by a few things. Specifically 2 performances. Desmond Harrington first of all amazes me. I know this performance could come off as dry or boring, but I really think he gave that character many layers of personality, but kept them at surface level. I am sure giving a restrained performance in the horror genre is a difficult thing to do, but he did it beautifully. Second of course is Eliza Dushku who in this film was one of my favorite heroines of the genre. Notice that she ony screams a couple of times in the movie. She is all business all the time and I love that about that character. You can also see the guilt she feels all over her face throughout the picture and never discover it until the waterfall scene. Beautiful job all around. Kick ass movie.

Check it. It's not as serious as the first film, but very entertaining and IMO much better than Hatchet.

not very original but a great overall film. One of my favorite movies that year. The sequel just had a bad vibe and I didn't get passed the first couple minutes

I really liked the first one. I saw it in theaters with my mom. I jumped at the thrown axe part. Was a cheap scare but it got me.

    Second one sucked balls IMO.

I enjoyed the sequel. I just didn't take it seriously. Some cool camera work and some nice kills. Not Citien Kane, but not Plan 9 either. I did really enjoy the original. But you really can't compare the 2. The sequel was more of a parady IMO. I'd give the sequel a 6.

One of the more decent 'new school' horror flicks.

Although can't say I was blown away by Desmond Harrington's and Eliza Dushku's amazing multi-layered performances. :mhehe:

Well, it's not like they are Oscar calibur. Too much acting always gets in the way of a good slasher. But I do feel that they went little further than most of our genre's leads do. It was just refreshing to see actors actually do their homework.

I really liked this movie as well. Nothing ground breaking but looking at it in the landscape of the genre (before the remakes of TCM, THHE) it brought back the whole fear of unknown land scape and its inhabbitants theme that was pervasive in the 70's and 80's. I liked Eliza's performance. She's one tough chick. If Ellen Ripley's offspring were ever brought into the Alien films Eliza should be considered. Still haven't seen the sequel but it's on my list.

I thought it was pretty entertaining. Henry Rollins is pretty much my hero.

I've enjoyed both of these movies. The second was surprisingly good for a DTV flick.

I don't think so. I like the 2nd Wrong Turn, not as much as the first. but I still think Hatchet is better than the sequal. Of course I do really like Hatchet.

Victor Crowley by far is the worst killer ever. Was he dead or not? Cause when his father hit him in the head with the hatchet he was supposed to be a teen, right? But, when he kills everyone he's an adult. Whats up with that? The movie itself I liked, but I wouldn't pay over ten bucks for it. The gore was cool as hell. The acting was decent enough, I especially like when Deon Richmond was hiding in the tree and says, "How the hell do I get out of this tree."

I dunno. I loved the kills....but that was about it for me with Hatchet. I just didn't vibe on it.
