I was thinking about blind buying this movie, it looks good. The past few years I have been getting into very "surreal" type movies. Anyone see this?

I like it, definitely pretty trippy and interesting. I sure as hell wouldn't mind owning it.

The first 30 minutes are incredible, would set it up to be an incredible horror movie, really some creepier shit than most horror movies of the late nineties. But then it kind of digresses into your normal time-warped, bizarre, Lynchian movie. I was disappointed that it didn't really follow through with the whole mood of the first half hour, but overall it's not that bad. I'd say if it's ten bucks or less, defninitely buy it, even if it's just for that first half hour.

Also, there's a fifty page essay about this movie in David Foster Wallace's book, A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again that also talks about Lynch's film style in general that's a good read to go along with seeing the movie.

Good flick, but I've heard some bad reviews, quality-wise, of the dvds that are available. From what I recall, there's never been a domestic release, yet...
