New fans will eventually turn to the classic horror films over time, much like with music. It would be fans that refuse to acknowledge older films for reasons other than the quality of the movie itself that I would eventually see an issue with.

I got into newer horror movies when I was younger, but found myself wanting more, so I did my research and found a whole new world.

I think all of us have had movies we loved but everyone else thinks they're crap. It just seems to happen more with you .

For instance, I also liked The Blair Witch Project. I liked House of the Dead, Disturbing Behavior, and the Carrie remake. Most people I know hated these movies. Hell, I just found out I was apparently the only one who liked the first half of Death Proof rather than the 2nd half like everyone else.

I really didn't care for JC's The Thing, Alien, or the Evil Dead movies and I'm not a fan of Asian horror (I get confused easily).

But I don't take it personally when they say I'm crazy. After all, they're just tiny pathetic fools  .

    Bahahaha, thats funny.

But seriously, yea to each their own. Most of us will bash each other's tastes now and again, but we're still fans... no better or worse than the next. Everyone has their dark secret love of some unpopular movie and in that we are all equal.

I cannot believe anyone in the entire world can actually think that BWP is the scariest movie ever. I hope you were kidding 36... if not you really need to watch a lot more movies.

I don't like Halloween or Evil Dead, and people say i'm crazy. I also hate Braindead (Dead/Alive) but for some reason rather enjoyed Bloody Murder 2.

I dont have a problem with the newer horror movies or the people who like them but I do believe that if you consider yourself a true horror fan you should have some knowledge of the older classics.

As some have said earlier. Whatever floats your boat.

For me its a generational thing. Kids today dont like older movies because they werent made the same way their made today. Its not what their 'used' to. The 'formula' was different, the approach was different. Fans of older movies dont like todays movies for the same reasons mentioned above add to that they are obviously out to make a quick buck in todays day and age compared to yesteryear.

However it crosses all genres. Not just horror. Its all about whats trendy and in. If its proven to be a cash cow (like comic book movies now). Then there will be a production line of these kinds of movies until the studios can no longer go to the well for water.

Im a fan of both but I prefer oldschool simply because the abundance of good movies made then far outwiegh what you have now IMO of course.

I prefer the old school scares, but not all new horror films are bad. Honestly I have respect for all horror movies, no matter how awful they are. You have to stop and think that someone thought that shitty horror flick was a good idea. So I respect them for that, even if the movie blew ass.

I do agree that folks should watch both sides; the new stuff and the olders stuff. Better to know the movie and be able to explain why you don't like it. Even if you watched it only once...or even just a few mins of it. Someone babbling about how they hate a movie they have never seen is just funny as hell to me. Reviews and trailers only say so much about a flick. Get your own opinion...

    Justf

As long as the movies are interesting, I'll watch, whether it be old school or new school horror. I was born in the eighties, and honestly I was scared to death when Child's Play came out. My dad took me and my two cousins to see it when I was four. I love the older movies. Halloween(1978) is the best horror movie. I like the remake as well, but it's not as good as the original. I've read in different posts where some people say that there was no character development for laurie, annie, and linda, as well as their boyfriends, but the new was about michael, not the girls. Of the nineties, I was a huge Scream fan. I watched it like everyday. Of this era, I'd have to go with Saw. I hate any supposedly horror movie that is rated PG-13, simply because they're not scary. At the most, they should be considered intense thrillers, and I'm saying that loosely. I've hated every japanese remake that america's made. I've never watched the original's so I cant judge them.
