Tried to see this tonight but it was too F'n crowded
I got a refund and found out they're going to start showing a morning, afternoon, and late showing as opposed to just one showing a day.

I try to demand this movie to my city, but I never get to see it. It started at Midnight and I had to work early the next day. I talk to the manager and he said that it should be a wide release by next year.

So I went to see this last night and it was sold out. So I went back tonight to see it (and I remember I had a free AMC ticket from American Eagle so yay me). It wasn't as scary as I thought it'd be/heard it was, but there were two scenes that really freaked me out. Other than that I thought it was just kind of creepy.

I think the relationship with the guy and girl is really believable and they did do a decent job of making me care about what happens to them.

They keep this movie simple. Yeah, I left wishing there had been more, but if there had been too much, it may have not left me questioning and wondering things in a way that frightened me. The amount of stuff they put in it made it more believable. This is DEFINITELY better than Blair Witch (not that it takes much to accomplish that) and it's definitely a movie that will scare you even more when you're at home after you've seen it than it necessarily will in the theatre.

I just got back from it and it was better then Blair witch. I don't know how they do it, but it was very realistic and I got scared in some parts.

Okay, I would say that my "fear factor" is pretty high and that not a lot rattles the ol' cage (probably because my parents were renting me Nightmare on Elm Street when they should have been making me watch Sesame Street). After watching this movie last night, I can say confidently that it was the most frightening movie I have ever seen. That isn't hype, it isn't hyperbole; it's just the truth. And considering that a packed theater walked out afterward in complete silence, the biggest guys among us looking over their shoulders, I know I was not the only one that felt this way.

The beatiful thing about Paranormal Activity is that I was not even aware I was watching a movie; the chemistry between the couple and the acting was so natural that I felt as if the events taking place had actually happened. The only flaw in the movie had to do with (what I felt was) an overblown effect. Other than that, the events taking place and the characters reactions were exceptionally believable.

Whatever hype has been put into the movie is nothing compared to the work itself. I wouldn't be concerned about expecting too much; I had extremely high expectations for it and it still fried my nerves. Do yourself a favor and see it. And while everyone is entitled to their opinions, I find it very difficult to believe that this movie didn't freak the hell out of everyone that watched it.

Better than Blair witch, but what isn't? Didn't live up to the hype, but what does? Worth an spending an afternoon on, but I wish I waited for the DvD release. Fat chick (and I mean fat) behind me got scared and dumped her popcorn on me, so I faked a shock and toss my soda behind me at her. Overall, a fairly decent afternoon. :movies:

Call me crazy, but I found this movie to be nothing but cheap acting and over hyped. I truly went into this movie underestimating how terrible it could be. I, on the car drive to Lincoln Nebraska (I live in Omaha), told my friends how I was not getting to hyped for this movie because I don't want to be let down, but I was let down by how HORRIBLE this movie was.

First off, the acting is horrible. It was good in the beginning, but somewhere along the line it blacked out and went far far far south. I read above that the couple's chemistry was awesome, sorry but I did not even see a little chemistry, they seemed more like brother and sister to me.:starefreak: I also found this movie lacking any scares at all.

They appearantly have 21 nights and yet only 5 or 6 of those nights produce any real activity. The activity that is produced is shown in all of the commericals *minus an attic scene*. The scares were absolutly nothing, in fact I would take a 10 year old to see this movie. The scares are pathetic and the only true 'jump' scare they produced anyone could see coming.

In between the nights they had ANNOYING dialogue between the couple, and sometimes a random friend and a psychic. The 'couple' never seemed to agree on anything and when they did it felt to overbearing and pushed on the audience.

The camera aspect was very cool, and I give mad props to the producers to try and pull a Blair Witch (which I absolutly love). The whole background of the couple using this camera at night to try and capture paranormal activity was very very cool and a great idea, that to me fell flat. Once again they show the most random stuff in this movie. I did not need to see the main camera man try to give impersonations in a mirror while his girlfriend takes a deuce. The idea would have been sweet if it focused on the night time activity more and less of this 'couples' personal life.

Overall I feel like this movie was NOT the scariest movie of the decade, but, in fact, the biggest LET DOWN of the decade. To call a movie of any genre the 'movie of the decade' it has a lot to live up to and sadly this movie had nothing, but a great concept and a cool point of view. I walked out of this movie with one thought "I have had dreams with higher scares than this movie." The rest of the theater also agreed due to their incessive laughter at 'scary' scenes, i.e. the ending. In some parts of the movie I even heard "This is a disappointment" and "Can we just go?".

5/10 and that is me being VERYYYYYY generous. I just could not get into this movie at all. But to those that did, congratzzzz.

So basically you'd rather them Rob Zombie us and leave out the character interaction so that we don't give a flying fuck about what happens to them? =]

Maybe it's just different styles of life, but I know tons of couples, and I've had relationships myself that were just like the couple in this movie (before the paranormal shit got really crazy) where they're able to joke with each other and tease one another.

To me, the acting seemed exactly like people would act who were being filmed. And I truly believed that these people were afraid.

To me, the reason this movie worked is what you want to take out. If you focus so much on the night and take away the day, there's never that sense of fear for the night because you don't get to experience the calm of the day. You wouldn't have gotten to see the couple interact or know their personalities. Call me crazy, but I like movies where you get to know the characters and they aren't just bodies to add to a count at some point. ^_^

I, for one, felt very connected to Rob Zombie's characters, especially the Banjo-Sullivan Band that was killed. To each their own I guess.

Secondly, I never have had a relationship like the one depicted in this movie. So, congrats that you have! I for one disliked the characters and felt no relationship with them, nor did I feel like they were scared.

As I said before, without dissing any of your favorite movies, I did not like this movie and my opinion will not be changed just as yours won't.

I could see Halloween, but I still felt connected to the Ho1C victims in a strange way. Not to mention that the audience grows to really hate/love the Firefly Clan.
