If there was ever a horror classic NOT crying out to be remade. I have a hard time trying to imagine the gothic, supernatural atmosphere even working in a modern setting. The world has changed a lot since the original was made. And if they make it a period piece then that begs the question even more as to why they should go through with the exercise.

I've tried to watch Susperia twice and was so bored I couldn't finish it. So remake away. And I really like the girl from the orphan so I'm glad to see her get the gig. She'll do a good job I'm sure.

In his defense the first time I ever watched it I didn't like it that much. The second time and so on I learned to love it for what it is. I think it was just the acting that turned me off in the beginning. Plus I used to be a gore hound and any movie without tons of gore I disliked.

Argento's original concept was for the school to be filled with girls 12-15 years old but the financiers didn't want a bloody mess with children in it so he bumped up the ages of the girls to keep the gore. (which is why the dialog of the girls is mostly shallow and child-like).

My main concern is that the director has spent most of his time making luke-warm comedies and doesn't have the directing chops to tackle one of the most cinematic and visual masterpieces of cinema. As everyone knows the story and acting take 2nd and 3rd place to Argento's directing and visual style in that film. He's likely in over his head.

Argento wanted to keep that theme, that is why many of the door and door knobs are higher up to make the adults appear childish next to them

nah. I watch old horror flicks all the time. This is just one of those classics unlike everybody else I'm not in love with.
