    HD Upconvert DVD Players

I'm considering purchasing an region free dvd player that has a built in HD Upconverter. The only thing is, I don't have an HDTV at the present time. Would playback of an HD Upconvert dvd player on a standard TV make this obsolete or would I need an HDTV to achieve playback. Furthermore, is this worth my time and money or would I be more happy with a standard region free dvd player? I'm sorry if I'm asking an already repeated question.

    Sic,

You wouldnt see a difference on a standard TV. You would need to use a hidef cable such as HDMI. You can buy a upconverting DVD player from walmart for $40...and it is region 1...but there is a code to make it region free, and it works. I bought it and tested it.

    This model:
    http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=5584897

    Crack:
    http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/philips-dvp-3960/8244

    With the DVD tray OPEN
    Press "Setup"
Scroll to "Preference" using the Left/Right arrow key
Press "138931" and a popup screen will appear

Use the Up arrow key and select 0 for a region free DVD player
    Done.
