making a list

Hey, I'm trying to boost my horror collection so I'm making a list of movies to look for online and at the stores around town. Is there anything that is an "essential" addition to make. I'm asking because I hate spending money on a movie then watching it and finding out its crap. I know a decent amount about the genre but not nearly as much as some of you guys on this board. Any suggestions? They don't have to be over the top gory (but sometimes that counts) anything thats just a good overall watch. Any help would be awesome...

If you haven't yet, check the Reviews section of UHM, there's a list of MUST SEE films on the left side that you may want to check out. Otherwise, just scroll through the review database for movies rated 7 and over :nod:

You could also look at our DVD collections in our signatures and see what others have bought that you might have not seen or were thinking of purchasing.

Nah..but do buy it, it's life changing.

My top 3 favorite movies are Evil Dead, Demons and Dellamorte Dellamore, so if you don't have those - buy buy buy.

Dellamorte Dellamore (a.k.a Cemetery Man) is a..well..how should I explain this in an easy way? It's an artistic and surreal psychological romance-drama-comedy with zombies. That's about right.

Oh and Demons, if you haven't seen it, is just a really really cool movie with demons.

ohh, my buddy was telling me about cemetery man like 6 months ago but i must have completely spaced it off. I read fright's review of demons last night and definitely put it down on the list. thanks for the heads up on dellamorte dellamore, i will definitely check it out

I love the flick, but it's not a flick for everyone. A strange, surrealist film from David Lynch with a message that is up for one's interpretation (a real mindfuck movie). It also has very little dialogue. If you're into strange surrealist films, then I'd suggest you watch and check out his other films and the films from Alejandro Jodorowsky. Otherwise, view at your own risk.

...and honestly, IMO, that's about the extent of what's worth buying in the horror genre. There are many other little goodies, but most only warrant a rent.

FWIW, I'm really getting sick of having to specify "original" next to so many classic titles. Remakes are disgusting.
