That's because Hostel films are Torture Porn & they should Not have made a part 2, after the horrible 1st, he should have known the 2nd one would Flop!

That's like slashers in the 90's. It was easy to say the slasher genre was lame and sucked due to the mass quantities at the time. But at the same time, there were a couple decent ones along the way, it was just all of the other shitty ones that ruined it for the few.

It does have a name, it's called Exploitation. It's been around since the 60's(Actually longer than that but that is when gore starting making its way into the flicks).

Curious... Out of morbid curiousity, what would you refer to these kinds of movies as? Sub-genre similar to 'zombie flicks' or 'alien movies'? A theme? A catagory?

Personally wouldn't grant them the same standing as a "sub-genre" as "slasher films" or "zombie flicks", but the sheer number of these films does deserve some label... *shrug*

I really wouldn't say it's a sub genre, just a combination of genres (horror/exploit). Hostel is the best example since it is no different than any of the naziploitation flicks, other than the story/plot.

I liked Hostel for what it was, plus it was greta to bring it home and wathc it with family and see them squirm, my girlfriend at the time nearly puked, so for giving me that great moment I like Hostel.

but as for this topic the most overrated horror movie ever to me The Exocist, it may have been scary for its time, but wathcing it made me laugh. I'm suprised though that hollywood has still left it alone and hasnt tried to make a crappy re-make, but the prequel comes close though

Why would I be insulting your intelligence? It's not like I'm a mind reader, I don't know what you know/don't know about movies. Besides, you were agreeing to the fact that 'torture porn' is term only used by "sucky people" so obviously that right there shows signs of intelligence.

"torture porn" is not a genre. For one, there's not enough films in that style to make it a full fledged sub-genre of horror. If anything, I'd label it as exploitation. However, it goes a bit beyond typical exploitation with the fact that most of these flicks attempt to have a story.
