Eh, I didn't like it much. And I didn't feel sad when the kid got hit by the truck, and everyone always is like "Oh that's so devestating blah blah blah". And it would be if gage wasn't such a little bastard. I was sadder when the cat died. AND the only part I really like was the infamous achilles scene.

I love that movie. It's probably one of my favorites, and defintely one of Stephen King's best movies. I did not care for the sequel, even as a kid, I thought it had too much humor and I think that is what killed it for me.
BTW....it's like 12:40 in the afternoon, and I'm freaked out now because I watched that clip. Great job!

I read the book and I was surprised at how faithful the movie was to the book expect for a few minor differences. It was quite scary, I also own the 2nd which was a descent follow up but kinda chessy at times (Dad's dog nightmare lol). All in all it's a pretty solid series. I heard a while back that they were planning on re-making the first however but I haven't heard shit since then so I guess they scrapped the idea. THANK GOD
Pet Semetary is one of the scariest movies I have ever seen. Totally gives me the creeps in many of the scenes. The performances were pretty good...especially from Dale Midkiff (sp), Denise Crosby, and little Miko Hughes. One scene that totally makes me shutter at times is when Rachel is in a daze or whatever..and she opens her sister bedroom door..and we see Zelda on the bed. All of a sudden she sits up really fast..hearing her bones crack...and she runs right up to Rachel. Thta voice and her telling Rachel "Gage and I will get you". Yuck...totally creepy!!

One of the only films that actually freaks me out.
The scene with the fucked up sister gave me nightmares. Not to mention the killer two year old. Fuckin' intense.
8/10 - In my opinion
So take it as a song, or a lesson to learn. And some time soon, be better than you were. If you say you're gonna go, then be careful. And watch how you treat every living soul.

I bought the DVD of this not long ago. My favorite King adaption, and sucha creepy movie. I agree that its very faithful to the book, with the exception of things such as the faces in the mist on the walk to the burial ground, and the Wendigo. Fred Gwynne was an amazing actor, and I actually feel really bad when he dies. Of course, i felt bad for Judd in the book too. Lastly, the death of Gage, followed by the funeral is really haunting, paritally because I have a two-year old now, and mostly because the scene when he gets hit, and Louis screams "NO!" over the montage of pictures is just heartbreaking. Fucking amazing movie.

This post looks like it was dug out of nowhere. Judging by your avatar, you searched it lol. I love this movie for the atmosphere that it delivers. I love watching it around Halloween because it just has that dark fall aura to it. The movie is pretty loyal to the novel and the film itself is not really dated IMO. Not a whole lot of 80's cheesiness to it, even tho it came out late 80's (89). I truly believe that if this movie had a little longer running time, which was put into the second act then it truly would've been a gem. Still my favourite King adaptation.
Times are looking grim these days - holding onto everything - it's hard to draw the line. I, am hiding in this empty space, tortured by my memories of what i've left behind
