Movie was released in 92, although the 80s style was still not so badly hated back then.

Interestingly enough, Cool World was reportedly supposed to be a horror movie until the producer rewrote it. Entirely. The wikipedia article and Ralph Bakshi's website has some interesting insight into that.

Oh, and yes, I rented this. I even remember where I rented it from back in high school, in the days before DVDs. It was a fun enough way to kill a night, but I recall there wasn't much animation actually in it.

Oh, 92... i didn't do my research. Reguardless it looks fun and the trailer had an 80's feel to it.

The 80s-90s transition was a pretty slow one, so it's sometimes hard to distinguish the two, at least for me anyway.

me too! I rented Ghoulies 3 ghoulies go to college ALL the time for the nudity when I was younger. The box had a piece of tape on it that said PG so my mom always let me get it. I dunno if it actualyl was PG though. Doubtfull.

When I was a kid I had my own video card that said 'Yes R's' on it. Which enabled me to rent R rated movies, my moms gave the video store the OK. Was pretty sweet. Same deal for me at Hollywood video back in the day.

EDIT: I remember my store 'Movie Gallery' ... where u could rent 5 library movie aka. older movies for 5 dollars... I would rent every horror movie that I could get. This was when I was a kid, my mom didn't care as long as I wasn't rentin' porns. but one time I tricked her. I don't remember how young I was, but I rented "Naked Souls" wit 4 other horror movies and was like oh this is a horror movie. Its the movie wit Pam Anderson in it. I remember watchin' it in the livin' room and my mom came in the room when Pamela's tits were hangin' out... She took it out and returned it hahaha. But I ended up rentin' it again a other time.

Well I'll be damned, that was my cheap "look boobs" movie. I bought it recenlty on VHS. I love when the girl gets a moose head stuck on her head, when the ghoulies attack the girl in the showers "Beeries!" and the panty rave scene. Pricless.
