    Indy Review

May be minor spoilers, I won't put anything in that will ruin anything.

OK, first of all, I've never seen any of the other Indy movies. I know, I know, I suck but the movies never interested me before (although I want to see them now).

So, that being, I didn't have anything to compare this installment to. What I expected was not what I saw.

Now, I know it's an adventure movie and supposed to be reminiscint of the pulp fiction-comic type stuff but there's a difference between taking fictional-world liberties and making things completely unrealistic. You either make something logical that would make sense, or you go completely out there and have fun with it. IJ and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull fell in between.

(spoilers, but not about the plot itself)
So after Indy's opening run in with the movie's villains he finds himself in an atomic testing site in NV... and he survives an atomic bomb... like, he was right where it dropped... and he lived by hiding in a lead-lined fridge... that's just something I couldn't believe, amongst other things.

Let's just say, when I left, I thought to myself a better title would have been Indiana Jones and the Mystery of the X-Files.

There were just as many good things though. The acting (aside from Karen Allen) was good. The story, while unbelievable, was fun. I loved the digital landscapes they created. And they left it open for an obvious sequel which I'm sure will be cool. All in all, I liked the movie. Didn't think it was great but I wasn't disappointed either.

Hmmmm I loved the movie, I just saw it today and it didnt feel like the old Indy movies exactly, but old feelings came back fast. unlike probably most of you, this is what I was expecting the new film to be and I loved it, I'd place it 3rd best, first Raiders, then Temple Of Doom, then Crystal Skull, and The Last Crusade. I'm kind of hoping for 1 more movie and then be done with the series as far as film, but maybe a new Young Indy series would be cool, just as long as its not too much like a history channel video.

I loved it too, but the ending through me for a loop... but then i did some thinking about when the movie was set and how the other movies had similar things that were hard to explain. It fits well when you think about it... hopefully i am just not making excuses. I will see on saturday when i go for a second showing.

Well what I tell people is you cant go into it expecting the same gold as the original 3, if you do that your probably going be let down. But liek I said, for me I loved it. If you wnat to knwo if there was TOO much CGI, I would say that if it didnt need to be used it wasn't, just smae parts couldnt have been done without the CGI. This weekend I'm going a 2nd time as well. I'd reccomend it anyday. It just sucks at this point because i cant talk about it since not many people saw it yet and are waiting for the weekend.

I might go see this in theatres since I've never had the experience of watching this franchise in theatres. Probably not this weekend, being Memorial Day. I can't wait to check this out!

I'm lukewarm on the entire series, but from what I can tell this one fits in with prior movies.

Unrealistic: Last Crusade and Lost Ark both revolved around the search and subsequent use of Jewish/Christian magical artifacts. Temple of Doom really called down the magical whatchamacallits.

This twist was just another flavor of the same serial/pulp stories that Indiana Jones was written to emulate.

From the point of view that my only personal investment was in showing my wife a good time, this movie looked like the other three with slightly different set dressing. That pretty much made it as fun as the other three.
