The Hills Have Eye's and Texas Chainsaw Massacre so far. Halloween could've been INCREDIBLE of a remake if he didn't choose that fucking GIANT to play Michael Myers. Pissed me off so bad when I saw how big he was. I have somewhat high hopes for NOES and Night Of The Demons. I don't think anyone can replace Robert Englund or the chick that played Night Of The Demons. But you never know, I got PISSED when I read that Heath Ledger was playing The Joker and now I think he looks like the best villian fucking ever in a Superhero movie.

The Hills' remake was pretty good. i know i'm in the minority but i MUCH prefer TCM '03 to the original, which is imo one of most overrated movies i've ever seen.

The new Amityville Horror wasn't the most awesome movie ever but it was way way better than the original which basicaly sucked. New Dawn of the Dead was hardly a remake but it was awesome.
Bruce Campbell has the power to turn lead into gold, simply by farting on it.

I have to go with TCM '03. I watched TCM '74 before watching the new one like a week before. I had to find someone in my dorm that had a VCR and I ended up watching it some nasty dude's room. And I was kinda pissed. I was like, that's it? After everything I heard and watched, that's it?
I mean TCM '03 wasn't a masterpiece, but it kept my interest more and at least had better deaths and less cheese. I understand the original was made in the '70s and at the time it was considered gruesome and horrible, but it was COMPLETELY overrated imo.

I cannot stand the TCM remakes. Terrible.
The original is great. You can almost feel that Texas heat. The closeup of the chicks
eye when shes at the dinner table about to get served up? Come on.
The Thing is obviously champion in this respect. The Hills and Halloween were ok, but I dont think they surpass the originals. So, uh Shaft? No. Um. The Fog? No. The Omen!
Uhh no.
Wait! The '78 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers was better. Is Scarface a remake? I think the Departed is a remake.

The Thing '82
House of Wax '53 (remake of Mystery of the Wax Museum)
I prefer Horror of Dracula (Hammer) over Dracula (Universal)
That's all I can think of right now.

Anyone who said the Texas Chainsaw remake was better than the original should be drawn and quartered. The remake was horrible.

that's just it. for it's time, i can see why the original made such an impact but i feel like alot of people these days give it so much love because they're "expected" to. and i gotta say Franklin from the original might just be the most annoying character in a horror film EVER!!!

The original TCM was on my list for overrated horror but I still think it is better than the 03 remake.
My favs:
The Thing (80s)
The Fly (80s)
Mary Shelly's Frankenstein (much closer to the book than the Universal or any of the others)
Bram Stoker's Dracula (one of Keanau's best)
