I am a huge fan of Paulin and have all of his films. He truly does the because of his love of the genre and the people that watch this kind of film. On that note I must admit that I was a bit disappointed with BloodPigs, not the movie itself or its concept (which I think is great), but the fact that the transfer is so jumpy I honestly could not watch the whole thing in one sitting because my head was hurting so bad!

Centipede Horror is a pretty cool movie. I'll look into Calamity of Snakes, cheers!

No it's not Underground, but I'm positive it's an independant film. I have to find it in my collection to be sure

WOW! what a great thread. seen many of the above movies mentioned but im gonna check out a few which i havnt. was the dead next door mentioned? cant remember? i thought the word underground was just for movies with zero budget but judging by the lists thats not quite the case. not seen aftermath or genesis but i will now in the next couple of days. soz for ranting the other day by the way ...... i gave someone a copy of deep red and when he returned it said it was shit and said the scream films were better! i nearly flipped my lid! glad i found this thread.

I know there is a shitload more but for someone who wants to test the waters these movies are all great watches. I'm sure Cata has alot more to add so stay tuned.
I'd suggest Ms.45 over I Spit On Your Grave. I found it far better filmmaking in the rape/revenge subgenre: http://stagevu.com/video/sqhceflbbwpm

Well at least someone appreciates Ms 45. Many find it very slow paced if not boring. I myself like both films equally

I often find deliberately paced films refreshing. I'd wanted to see this one for years after seeing the clips in Terror in the Aisles and wasn't disappointed. I was, however, more than a little wigged out the first time I watched it because my ex fiancee is a dead ringer for Zoe in that film.

Deliberate is a word I'd use to describe most Abel Ferrara movies that I've seen.

May have already been mentioned. But have you checked out Joe D'amato at all? If you like 70s and 80s he's got some good stuff. 'Buio Omega' and 'Antropophagus' are some ones i like

I love Buio Omega. That Iris was fuckin mental. How about the dismemberment scene.... beautiful stuff

Antropophagus was good aswell. The pregnant woman scene was ok but the hype I read I thought it would have been much gorier. Still very good.

I'll have to check these out. I've wanted to see Anthropophagus since watching Lampyman01's reviews of the whole "video nasties" phenomenon, on youtube. If you haven't checked out his channel, give it a shot. Even shitty movies sound pretty interesting when reviewed with an accent.

I am somewhat familiar with D'Amato though. I have several of his films in my Black Emmanuelle volumes one and two boxsets

agree with every single word you said.

(Buio) Also love the embalming scene and the sound effects were awesome and pretty much the whole movie. It takes a few minutes to get going, but once the gore starts it mostly keeps going til the end. which is all i ask really.

And yes on Antro, it was built up so much to me that the first time i watched it ended up being just ok. but then after a few more views i really started to like it

I'll have to check out Buio Omega. I bought Anthropophagus on a whim and I could take it or leave it. There were a lot of dead scenes where things drug on too long, which is to be expected of a film that came out in that time. But other than that, there were a lot of really solid scenes. The more I think about it, the more I remember enjoying several awesome effects in that flick, but I'm still left with a feeling of "meh."
