Just like everyone else, I have it on VHS and loved it as a kid. Been meaning to buy it on DVD since I started collecting DVDs but other movies have been more important.

I'm thinking I need to watch this one again after seeing Rutger in HWAS... It's been a while since I've seen it but I think I remember the finale with the creature in the subway was filmed by a different director after the first one bailed? Pretty sure I am thinking of this movie. This prob just has a bare bones dvd...

I never really got into this movie. remember it from it's release and didn't really grag me then. Was on cable not so long ago so checked out, still feel the same way. Each to their own really.

You guys have a thread on Split Second? That is awesome. I love this movie. Of course, it's not perfect, but Rutger Hauer is so good in it. The exchanges between him and Dick Durkin are some of the best. Dick's character arc is so funny. I need to buy the poster off Amazon. It's one of my favorites. My friend Jason paid $100 for the out-of-print DVD.

The gore is still pretty good.

The monster doesn't necessarily make much sense, but that's part of the charm.

Is it the devil? It cuts out people's hearts with its hands, but it knows how to use a gun and mail packages?

There are a lot of funny lines too.

Sounds like there's actually another cut of the movie (from IMDb's reviews):
"I got a copy of the movie I recorded from the TV, and a DVD release. I was sorry to find out that the movie on DVD lack some crucial scenes that cripples the atmosphere. For example, there's no scene when Stone asks the girl on the steps of the residential house if she saw the monster. Just after the scene when Stone starts firing and get all the cops on himself here goes the scene in the men's bathroom. No ambulance, no nightmares, the scene, when Durkin sees Stone's scars and gets curious, is cut. So is the scene with Durkin's wife when he and Stone just drop in to warn her. Is there a theater cut on DVD? And is there a director's cut then for TV?"

I was always curious what was cut out of it. Anybody know anything about these extra scenes? I want to track down the other version.

For those with an all-region DVD player. There is a German Edition of this DVD out. Granted it lacks special features, but it does come with with widescreen edition of the film, not found on the HBO Home Video release. The transfer is not bad either.
