Just finished it and it was pretty mundane until the last 10 minutes, they were enough to save the film though. Still doubtful i'd re-watch it but I can recommend it for a one time viewing, it's good enough for that.

Caught Torso a while back, really liked it. I have a few Bava flicks lying around that I haven't had the chance to watch as well as Short Night, I'll have to give them a watch sometime soon. Think I'm about to get back on a Spaghetti Western kick first though :bigthumbup:

That's great news, the movie is excellent and very deserving of this re-release.

I wanted to view The Card Player for these two reason..1. Argento ..:heart: and these covers I saw:







Wow, too cool I thought, well... it was lacking in on-screen gore, and was stripped of his legendary color palette. The Card Player creates dread by way of establishing mood and hinting at off-camera brutality, which is sometimes successful and sometimes not. Oddly enough for an Argento film, the visuals, while professional, are quite subdued, with the emphasis falling on the performances of the lead actors. They are actually pretty good. Although it’s little more than a pale shadow of Argento’s greatest successes, it remains an enjoyable, flimsy distraction.

It needed more tension, more spectacle, more gory drama - in short, to be more Argento-esque. This was a ''techno'' thriller.

While Stefania Rocca and Liam Cunningham both give reasonably effective performances, their good work is undone by the bad acting of most of the remaining cast.

like the dead corpse spitting water at an investigating detective, and a reasonably exciting scene where Anna realises the killer has invited himself over to her apartment

6.5/10...geez I wanna give it a 7 but I can't

I just finished watching Suspected Death of a Minor.
It wasn't really a Giallo imo, but I did like it quite a bit, some brutal stabbings, a boiling pot of water to the face, and unscrupulous crime rings. There was also a kickass movie theater scene where the awesome 'Your Vice is a Locked Room and Only I have the Key' is playing. You don't get to see much of the flick but you can hear the dialogue and it's pretty sweet

I could go with a 6 or 7, good flick.

Been wanting to watch Suspected Death of a Minor, but I've been puting it off for some time now. Perhaps I should get off my laurels, and have a look see.

Been wanting to watch The Card Player as well, but I've heard more negatives about the film, so I am going be be a bit hesitant in seeing that.

I just watch Death Carries a Cane. It is a rainy , cold day here in Chicago, so what better to do was get under the covers with a inviting giallo film. There wasn't anything awful about this film, but it had nothing I just had to see. To me it lacked a real sense of intrigue. It had everything you'd like in a giallo, well for me it did... nudity, blood and awesome 1970's dialogue. It had a lovely character in Kitty, whether dressed as a prostitute to lure out the killer or looking for somewhere to pee-pee, she was quite delightful. The characters were not that important. They were just there to increase the red herrings and the kills.The climax was surely one of its stronger moments..a nicely shot darkened greenhouse scene. All in all I am glad i saw it...ummm, 7/10.


My next venture will be..Death Walks at Midnight..I think Susan Scott is in that..I like her.

Just watched Crimes of the Black Cat aka Seven Shawls of Yellow Silk

It was pretty standard up until the most gruesome straight razor murder sequence i've ever seen

Decent flick that was largely saved by the 'graphic' slashing.
