Best and Worst Nightmare Sequel

I think people dislike the new nightmare because it is not the same Freddy that we've seen in the last 6 movies. I thought it was genuinely the scariest one since Part 1. I love the change in Freddy's tone and actions it made him more terrifying and less of a goofball (see freddy's dead). Heather was great in it as well, she is an actress we really got to see progress in one franchise. She was aweful in part 1, so-so in part 3, and top-notch in NN.

A couple years ago I watched all of em in one day, and I expected NN to be the one I liked the least...turned out to be my fav (after part 1 of course).

I recommend all the haters to go back and give it another shot, you might be surprised.

EDIT: On a whim I just checked out IMDB (and I know they are not a good judge on horror but in general movies I think the public rates them pretty evenly) and New Nightmare got better reviews than all the other sequels.

It has hints of Scream with its originality.

Best is either 4 and 6, I liked that style Freddy the best.

Worst is 5 cause it's boring as hell but story wise, 7 gets my nod for worst closely followed by 2

for me the best is a toss up 'tween 3 and 4. the worst....that's a hard one. it's between 2, 5, and 6. atleast part 2 still had Freddy before all the corny ass wisecracks, and he was still somewhat frightening. 5's storyline had a lot of potential but the overall feel of the movie is just....i dunno, wrong? Freddy's dead was just a piece of shit, and i think it's the only horror movie sequel i've only watched once.
growing up i hated "WC New Nightmare", but recently i've started to appreciate it a lot more. the storyline was different, but not over the top, and quite frankly....Heather Langenkamp is THE SHIT!!! i still can't believe she hasn't had more success in acting. imo, she's probably the most believable of all the horror movie heroines.

if we're counting FvsJ among sequels...i'd definately lump that in with the worst of the series. waaaaaaaaaaaaaay overrated.

I don't mind the sequel to the original at all. I think Freddy's Revenge has it's place and is probably my favorite. I just think Dream Warriors is the most well done of the sequels.
