Another movie I forgot to add was ROTLD 3 which coincides with the ROTLD 3 thread I made awhile back. While its no classic and it doesnt even come close to touching the genious and genuine performances of the original ROTLD. It was a good film onto its own and is better than ROTLD 2 if for no other reason than its different.

The story was different, the performances were pretty good. The only weakness as I said in that thread about it was the zombies outside of Melinda (Mindy) Clarke and the opening zombie in the opening sequence were complete garbage. The story being told from a zombies POV was ingenious and something we hadnt seen yet.

So I'll add that movie to my list. Came out in 1993. We should all just pretend that series ended there.

    ROTLD 4 and 5

For some reason when I think of 90's horror, i do think think that it was a poor decade for horror, but when you actually list the films, alot of them are really rather ace. Maybe its looking back at the films of your youth with rose tinted glasses.

A lot of my favorites have been mentioned already.

I really love Jacob's Ladder. Excellent film all around.

Excorcist III was pretty good, imo.

Our immortality is found in the words and actions of our children.

You see relatives at holidays, weddings, and funerals, but family is always with you.

Do not steal, rape, or murder. Everything else is fair game.

i think 90's era horror was doomed from the start. most people were already desensitized by all the countless sequels that popped up in the 80's. most of the movies that came out in the 90's give you a feeling of "been there, done that".

    I am disappointed.

Page five, and no love for Lord of Illusions? At all?

I think I'll go watch it again right now.

Much love for Candyman as well. That was a work of beauty.

My less popular choices of still cool/scary movies include Hellraiser 4 and the remake of House on Haunted Hill. The first Wishmaster had a lot of promise and a few good scenes but seemed to think that orange lighting would make the rest of the movie scarier.

The 90s were a rough time. The 80s had elevated the drive-in horror movie into a big budget spectacle, but we had started to see it all. Scream and its thousand imitators threw away any chances for any real scares by siding with comedy instead - thus making Ghostbusters both scarier and funnier than almost all of them put together.

Now we're importing most of our best from abroad. We should feel a little shame for this, but at least we have better to choose from.

Now it's time to watch Scott Bakula kick people's asses.

Scream is a good movie never really got the hate for it. I actually wish they would re-release it uncut. The 90s may not have the classics of the 80s and 70s but it had some pretty good horror movies.

Scream is a horror in my book, but if you don't consider a slasher movie a horror movie then...

90's don't really have any great horror movies then. I mean... There are good ones, but not... Great Great. That's my two cents of course.
