I like the idea. I've always wanted another Ghostbusters movie, as long as it stayed faithful to the previous entries in the series. As far as new faces in this I wouldn't mind seeing David Duchovny as one of the new Ghostbusters. Maybe as Spengler's protege.

Female Ghostbusters I always felt like were possible.

Can't really complain about the choices.

More reasonable than some choices they could go with.

But he will over do it, just like he does in pretty much all his movies. It's not a bad thing, as i find him funny sometimes and enjoy alot of his movies, but it just wouldn't work in something like Ghostbusters IMO.

Hmmm true, well I really don't know who would make great Ghostbusters, most comedy actors theese days have something about them that would bug me if they were in GB3. Like I said I COULD see Jack Black, but he'd probably over do it. Seth Rogan could work, but he's been brought up a lot already. Hahaha it'd be great if they could get Simon Pegg.

Might as well strap a pink proton pack on the Jon and Kate bitch because I have no interest in seeing any female Ghostbusters EVER. Fucking horrible idea it would just take storyline and screen time away from all the original cast.

I want Rogan to stay as far away from this film as possible. Maybe Jack Black, but not sold on him. To be hoenst, after seeing Role Models, I'd love Paul Rudd to suit up as a new GB. Simon Pegg is a great choice, as I could see a British GB adding some enw humor to the mix, as well as I am a big fan of Pegg's work. Female GBs, ok, as long as none of them are too annoying. Thing is, they need an intelligent GB as well, because someone has to take over for Egon eventually. Not sure who would work well in this role though.

my dream cast for this would be:
    Seth Rogan
    Andy Samberg
    Tracy Morgan
    Simon Pegg

    THAT would be amazing!

I found this recently as well expanding on this news:
    http://www.slashfilm.com/2009/05/25/...-busting-tech/

Speaking to the Guardian Guide, a pull out supplement that comes with every Saturday’s issue of The Guardian newspaper here in the UK, Dan Aykroyd has revealed even more details of the upcoming third Ghostbusters film.

Here’s the big quote from the man himself, detailing some of the new ideas we can look forward to:

There’ll be a whole new generation that has to be trained and a leader that you’ll all love when you meet her. There’ll be lots of cadets, boys and girls who’ll be learning how to use the neuron splitter and the inter-planet interceptor - new tools to enable them to slip from dimension to dimension.

I’d imagine this female leader would be the role Aykroyd has previously expressed (a personal) interest in the casting of Eliza Dushku and Alyssa Milano for. You can infer from the comment that we’ll “all” love her that she’s probably not going to be a shrinking violet.

As for the gadget, to me this inter-planet interceptor brings back memories of Aykroyd’s own attempt, a few years back, to mount a third Ghostbusters film. Here’s Aykroyd’s own explanation of that old idea, as reported by Peter in February 2007:

I wrote a script called Hell Bent, Ghostbusters go to hell basically. The premise is that it’s Manhellton. There’s Manhattan and ManHELLton. And if you can build an inter-dimensional phase system so that you can go from one dimension to another. We’ve succeeded doing that and we go to the hell side.

Back to the new approach, and Aykroyd also mentions that Bill Murray’s condition for returning was that Ernie Hudson’s previously underwritten role as Winston Zeddemore would be beefed up to put him on equal footing with the others. A class move, Mr. Murray.

Aykroyd also notes to the Guide reporter that he has two new big ideas of his own:

I have what I think are two great cool science fiction stories myself right now and I think I’m gonna skip the movies altogether and find some gamers, maybe go with these guys again. I’ll just give them the scripts and say, ‘pretend this movie got made’.

Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky have been writing the new film - and judging from his comments, sharing every draft with Aykroyd. Production is apparently possible for the end of the year, so a Summer 2011 launch isn’t too unlikely.

You know it just dawned on me that GhostBusters 3 is ACTUALLY happening, and I'm way more excited before. Like it just finally settled in, I'm just wondering are they making it Live-Action or are they going with the CGI movie route??? I don't remember if anything was said about that?

And good to hear Bill Murray wants Ernie Hudson to have a bigger role this time, because he is right out of all the 4 Ghostbusters, he had smallest role. Not saying it was really small, just smaller than the other 3.

Mercedes Mcnabb would make a good female ghostbuster. Maybe Tina fey. Isla fisher would be good cuz shes actually funny (hard to find cute and funny in hollywood). Maybe Jenna Fisher from The Office. Jamie Presley or Jamie King. People say a female ghostbuster wouldn't work. I disagree. I just hope they don't bring a wayans brother or Keenan from SNL to play the token black guy. Although Damon wayans or Keenan I could stand the older brothers, its really on Marlon I hate

It's official, all women Ghostbusters flick is on the way!

    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hea...-writer-738556

Feig came on board to rejuvenate the project in August. But he came with a twist: the Ghostbusters would now be a female team and the project would no longer be connected to the earlier movies but now launch a new series.

Let the guessing and speculation begin on who these women will be. I would be amazed if Bullock and McCarthy are not in it.

It will have everything going against it.

I kinda wonder what Danny boy thinks of this or maybe he approves of it?

All I know is I wasn't too hot about it when it was in development hell all those years with Danny Boy and Harold practically begging Murray to come back into the fold. I'm also not too hot about it now.

I think it worked best in the 80s, I don't think its going to have the same humor and charm no matter who you interchange into the movie now.

Bill Murray fucked it all up for a GB3, so why bother make a Ghostbusters sequel or reboot? Box Office dollars...always the fuckin' dollars.

It's not that I don't like the idea of an all-woman ghostbuster group, it's just...why can't they make it their own thing and not call it Ghostbusters? Because it won't make more money if the name isn't attached? Because audiences are rather sexist when it comes to doing an all-female cast of a film about ghostbusting? (Which I would still pay to see because that sounds awesome) Why not just call it something else? Seriously, why not call it something else at least?

They should've used this concept in this 80s with Sigourney Weaver and that nerdy receptionist chick.. would have made perfect female ghostbusters.
