Sequel is heard to be about the Stranger besieging a family this time. But Liv isn't up for it:

Speaking to Shock Till You Drop, the actress and star of the first film explained that audiences probably won't see her on the big screen, should the follow-up ever get off the ground.

From what ive read (imdb) she is coming back for the sequel?? but only for a small cameo (im thinking it could start from her being taken to the hospital and being questioned but dying before any vital info given)

Either way i agree with you that it was a good film. I liked i do find it quite scary even watching it now.

Never seen the 1st... well I saw like 20 minutes of it and just shut it off. 1st one did nothing for me...

I'm ready for number two. I liked the first one, lets see whats happens in the second. The best route for the premise of the second is they should stick to true stories. This was based on a true story as should the second should be. I think if they do that they can't go wrong.

How do people not like the first? I found it to be one of the creepier, scary horror movies to come out in recent years. I suppose if you're a gore hound and that's all you care about, than this isn't for you. There's not much scarier than being out in the middle of nowhere, middle of the night, and 3 psycho's decide to fuck with you just for the sake of it. The scene where Liv Tyler has been getting terrorized, and then see's her cellphone sitting in the fireplace knowing someone put it there, and she's all alone! How is that NOT terrifying? Maybe it's cause I have always found home invasion to be a scary ass thought, but this movie was about as tense and frightening as anything I've seen. I would LOVE to see a sequel IF they can match the original. Sadly, it looks like this isn't going to materialize.
