I heard about this a while back and boy oh boy I hope this is true. I might actually see this if it's live action. I didn't see and I will not see TMNT.

Skipped the last one. Hopefully there will be a more adult approach with any future Turtles movies.

I was a big fan of the turtles growing up in the 90s.

I thought the recent animated feature was decent enough.

Really seems like a lame idea at this point to remake/reimagine the franchise simply because they believe it will make big bucks. I believe it wont because I believe people DONT CARE about the Turtles anymore. They were a great thing in the late 80s and the early 90s. The interest simply isnt there anymore. I dont care if its rated G or rated R. I dont think people want to or care to see them anymore.

    Let it go I say.

    Better off trying something new.

    Battletoads live action.

the original movies were cool as a kid (except the third one), but hopefully if they make another live action its got more of a grown-up feel (as grown up as you can get with humanoid turtle ninjas that is). I liked the rougher feel of the animated movie that came out, hopefully they keep that. As an adult i'm annoyed with the originals movies when every 30 seconds 1 or all of them would go around saying "tubular" "bodacious" and crap like that. Theres room for all that, but not every other freakin scene.

Why would they make one with a more "grown-up feel" when this is designed specifically for kids?

The original comics had the Turtles as strict ninjas, at the same time being a parody of Frank Miller's Ronin and Daredevil work. It just fell into kiddie stuff with the cartoon, which is how most people view the Turtles. None of the films have gotten the direct adaptation, but Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the closest.

    No Live-Action TMNT 2
    Rumor control is in order.
    by Jim Vejvoda
September 4, 2008 - Remember those rumors we relayed the other day about a live-action TMNT movie sequel? Sounds like you shouldn't get your hopes up for one after all.

According to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles writer Stephen Murphy's blog the 5th turtle, the claims made by TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman at his Heavy Metal forum that a live-action movie was in the works are "complete nonsense and entirely untrue." (Eastman reportedly sold his interests in TMNT years ago and is no longer involved with it.)

Murphy had several months earlier quashed a statement initially posted at the official site of TMNT license holder Playmates Toys claiming that a live-action movie was in the works. Playmates later revised their statement and removed the "live-action" part. Murphy "can wholeheartedly confirm" that there will indeed be a sequel to TMNT, "although it's more likely to be early 2011" rather than 2010 as stated by Playmates.

Furthermore, Imagi Studios, the outfit behind last year's TMNT, may or may not be involved with the sequel. The 5th turtle posted this official statement a few months ago: "Imagi's unilateral option to produce and distribute a sequel to the 2007 TMNT CG-animated movie expired on April 30, 2008. As a result, while Mirage continues to speak with Imagi, Mirage has begun discussions with several other movie companies regarding the production of a new TMNT film for distribution sometime in the not-too-distant future."

Calls to Imagi for comment on the status of their talks with Mirage were not returned by time of publish.

Thanks for the history lesson. :rolleyes2:

Yes, the comics weren't intended for kids, everything else has been though. So why would things suddenly change? There is no money to be made in making an "adult" Ninja Turtles, there is however plenty money to be made in a children franchise.

Chief seems to have this idea stuck in his head that because he grew up on these shows like Turtles and GI Joe, that the people bringing this stuff back need to make him and people like him the target audience. Won't happen. Never will happen. These franchises are being given a second life because people are just looking to find a way to make a quick buck with little effort. So why not take something that worked once before, and try it again only updated?

Sure there will be little things thrown in there for the older fans, but in general these things will always be made for kids and that is it. And what would be more appealing to kids than pizza eating super heroes who throw out a catch phrase with every other sentence?

I hate life.......... Why the fuck wouldn't they make a live action movie? That'd make my fuckin day. A CG movie isn't really a movie, it's a step above a cartoon.

I guess you're right in that sense, they've changed it to make it even more appealing to kids.

Bats was kid friendly for 20 years. The Turtles are still successful as kiddie stuff, so that's what they're going to continue doing, until their popularity wears off. A couple of years go by after that, and I wouldn't be surprised if they took a serious, revamped approach.

I never read them, but I heard the original TMNT comics were pretty dark and adult-orientated. Would be nice if they made an adult-orientated movie based on the comics.
