September 8, 2008 - The Inside Man is poised to strike again. Universal Pictures and producer Brian Grazer are moving forward with a sequel to the 2006 crime thriller, which grossed more than $175 million worldwide.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is bringing back the original film's director, Spike Lee, for the sequel, and has also hired Hotel Rwanda's Terry George to script. Russell Gewirtz wrote the first film.

"I want the script to be even better than Russell's, and Russell wrote a really good script," Lee advised THR.

The trade reports, "Lee says he foresees that the new film will continue the relationship between the two main characters [Denzel Washington's cop and Clive Owen's bank robber] but in a new high-tension situation."

Both Washington and Owen are reportedly interested in reprising their roles.
