Remakes I wouldn't mind. Why not?

Considering how many great movies they’re remaking now for the “new” generations, especially horror flicks, I started to think which not-so-incredible movies from the past I wouldn’t mind to be remade. At least, there’s a little chance to improve originals.

Here’s a short list of my picks. What are yours?

1. Fatal Games (Why not a sports slasher again? We all like Olympics, right? Maybe less cheesy this time. With more suspense or bleaker. Please keep gratuitous nudity. Female nudity. I’d like to see Sally Kirkland playing a woman this time!)
2. Death Spa (Another great excuse to show nudity! The first flick was only good at that. More showers and better special effects. I am not so sure I want it to be supernatural. Campy is fine. Comedy/horror? It’s not too hard to improve the original this time. And no aerobics, Jane Fonda sucks!)
3. Final Exam (It’s time to kill co-eds in gorier not so dark remake, don’t you think? Just make me care for all girls first and then… Oh, whom I am kidding, just give me suspense and T&A for the 21st century.)
4. Death Ship (Forget about Nazis, give me Putin’s FSB or Muslim extremists’ torture ship and let’s cruise around. Evil spirits rock! So it’s rather update to nowadays reality. The first flick wasn’t bad at all. Keep the nudity.)
5. Bloody Birthday (There was something wrong with the original for me. Maybe acting. Felt too cheap. Anyway, evil children. Adults are killed. Some adults are seen nude before being killed. Worth remaking with bigger budget.)
6. Humongous (Who liked that? Couldn’t see anything. A mutant can be a woman this time, played by Alba.)
7. Chopping Mall (Cult Classic? I don’t know. I like robots in horror movies. Don’t hire Jim Wynorski and keep the nudity. Barbara Crampton in a nude cameo is a must.)
8. Nightmare Sisters (Legendary movie! Three scream queens in one movie. Why to remake this? To improve humor, gory death scenes and more nudity. Do we have another scream queens now? We got Tiffany Shepis for a start. And no castration, please.)
9. The Unseen (Hotels, nude girls and blood. Could be better second time around.)

P.S. I am not sure if they are doing these remakes already.

lol remake Resident Evil, it might not happen for while or ever, but dammit I want a decent RE movie. The only movies that should be remade though are the ones from the 50's and 60's that werent that good and seem really old now. because some had a good story, but were poorly executed.

I remember seeing Scanners was being remade along time ago, but I think it's been shelved for a couple of years. The concept in the original was awesome but the actual story and/or delivery dragged a bit much.

Scanners needs a remake. I hate the original. I too hear its getting remade. I think Dean Koontz' Watchers needs to be remade. To say nothing needs to be remade is a bit of a stretch. Some movies were good ideas but bad execution. Those movies need remakes in my eyes.

I can't agree more.

While remakes aren't always welcomed, some turn out to be pleasantly decent and at least worth the time. Now, not to say that the recent flood of remakes isn't bad, but some have turned out okay and, if it's enjoyable, I welcome remakes of certain movies.

A lot of the old ones, while they maintain their charm and campyness, deserve better. You know what I want? Gimme a remake of Basket Case.

Also that Darren Aronofsky(Pi, Requiem for a Dream) is to helm the remake of.... ROBOCOP!!! I do wonder what that'll be like.

I mean, a Godzilla remake I wouldn't mind, so long as it's nothing like our American version from 1998.

That's true, in the original they beefed Kong up with lightening :mhehe: I think the battle was a draw..
